Considering how many jurnos want in on the Doué action I feel like someone (including our ITK’s) would have caught wind of it by now.
What certainly seems the case tho is that he isn’t overly convinced by one more than the other which does make one wonder. Idk, if we had bid I reckon we might have actually got him. The Ange effect is certainly formidable.

You would expect we would have some open lines of communication with his team if this were the case? Did we really go cold with our interest after speaking with his representatives or did we go cold gauging what the situation would be with Rennes?

Anyone’s guess really. I mean WLB himself said we had “heavy interest”. Supposedly Ange talked to him and the general consensus from most ITK’s, not just the ones on here, was that he was keen for a while at least. The general vibe was cautiously optimistic. Then it went cold and Herc obviously said Rennes got greedy.
It’s all just guess work really. Maybe it was just a figures thing or maybe there was more to it. I remember Romano saying at the start that whoever got him would need to convince his family and it wouldn’t be a decision they would take lightly. So who knows maybe they were leaning towards us then we backed out over money and now they are taking time to reassess.
I imagine we probably are still keeping tabs, im sure we would do that with any target we really like/liked. And we know Lange likes to move in the shadows but I feel if we were still trying to grab him our involvement would have leaked considering it’s one of the most high profile transfers currently in negotiation.
Tbh who knows what’s going on. As far as I’m aware Rennes haven’t actually accepted a bid yet.
