It stinks, but reality is we were never going to win a Bayern vs PSG bidding war / battle for a promising French player.
We still snatched Dragusin off them and probably got a decent fee off them for Kane in hindsight

This is why I stay away from youtube compilations or any real detail about the player until they sign lol

When they put the name of the director of football ops name into the story about how vital they are it’s a done deal. He needs all the good publicity after the mbappe debacle

Seeing as though he's visited the training ground and stuff, he was probably quite impressed with what he saw and has kept an eye on us since.
That's not to say that he wants to come here over PSG or Bayern, just that he was impressed enough to follow our socials a bit.
He was probably quite taken by Ange too and he may well know Sarr from a couple of seasons ago when Sarr was in France.

He seems to like the posts about the younger players so if the price hadn't risen so high (or as high as is being reported), we may have actually had a good chance of snagging him.
Yeah... that makes sense.

Not sure where this lad stood on our list of priorities but I feel this will haunt us! He's going to be a sensational player for sure.

Why will it haunt us? We were competing with PSG and Bayern. Despite recent success in the market against such teams, the reality is that we are still below them in the food chain

I guess there is the unknown of did we step back because he didn’t want to come here or did we step back because we didn’t want to pay the money.

As you allude to we did just snatch Radu and Bergvall out from under Bayern and Barca’s noses so there is every chance we might have sold Doué the project. I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion he wouldn’t have come.

The ITK suggested that he was keen but the price got too much. Obviously there might be more to it and it could have just been agent mistruths but there will always be the “what if” as we won’t know for sure if he would have come if we had paid the money.

I'm not sure where in my post I suggested we missed out to Bayern/PSG?!

My post literally suggests we will regret not pushing for him. We had ITK earlier from WLB who said we didn't follow up initial strong interest. I therefore did not suggest we missed out on his signing, I just think we will regret not pushing for it as I feel he'll go on to be a brilliant player.

Personally think Eze, Neto and another defensive option will be our incomings and that'll be our lot.

I'd be happy with Eze and Neto and to have Spence as backup RB, Davies as backup LB.

If offered Eze and Neto as our last 2 signings, I'm taking that all day long

I would bite your hand off for that - I suspect it’ll only be one of the attackers, which would leave us a little short imo
