To clarify, Wouter Burger the DM right?

Skipp looked much better than him in the championship and is the same age.

Don't believe that for a second as it would be such a sideways move.

We would also lose out on a club-trained player.

Happy Birthday @Ghost Hardware, as a birthday gift can you give us a scouting report on 🍔 from Stoke, just saw we had been linked to him and he was a name mentioned to me a few months back but I didn't really pay any attention to it until now.
I just saw something on twitter with Stoke fans suggesting we had bid for him. Thought it was nonsense considering we just Gray.

Don't know sorry 🤷🏼‍♂️

Was just one name mentioned to me and as I said I didn't really pay much attention but some noises around a deal today so could be something, could be nothing. He's played for a struggling Stoke team and done very well on the whole so difficult to compare his season with Skipps in the Champ.

Would be a hugely underwhelming replacement for Hojbjerg and would make no sense dispensing of Skipp and his HG/CT status for Burger - not on an ability level or squad building level.

Appreciate the heads up though @Hotspur88 but hopefully this doesn't materialise.

I went and watched some Stoke games last month out of curiosity.

Good player. Sweet left foot. Clearly a PL player.

Strong mentality. Keeps going when they're loosing. Fans love him.

Just a hunch but believe he could cover LCB as well as DM, so from that perspective makes sense for squad building.

Would gives Gray the space to make the 6 role his, and perhaps for Vuskevic to step up next year as 4th / 5th CB.

I'd like it for the now and future planning.

Keeps our budget in tact for CF, RWF, 10/LWF, LB.

I saw Burger live last December Vs Millwall. After 5 minutes said to the Stoke fan I was with what a quality player that Burger is.

Technically really good.

As you're mentioning Skipp, the talk on Stoke Twitter is that we've offered 15 m + Skipp on loan. It's apparently from a source they trust

Thanks for the insight but then curious as to why he was then dropped for the last 3 games (coming off the bench) and didn't complete 90 minutes since beginning of February?

You may be correct in the versatility stakes but it would appear he's predominantly played in midfield for Stoke and for Basel so auxiliary LCB at best, non HG and going to then stifle the progress of others (Hall/Devine etc.)

Not for me Clive

Heard about Burger, but at the time was a list of many before we got Gray
Unless we are planning on selling more players than originally expected i would just be really surprised if we go for him. If I’m not mistaken, If we sell everyone we intend to (except for Richy and Bentancur) we can just about squeeze two more in for Europe assuming Spence stays. So that would potentially mean us only going for one of Neto or Eze unless we intend to drop someone like Bergvall or Gray from the list which would be odd.

On Burger - Left footed, technically gifted DM, maybe he's being looked at as a left sided Gray, a player that can play DM or inverted LB? The move would make a bit more sense if so.

No idea, probably carrying an injury.

Their best player by a distance from what I watched.

As I say just a hunch as he seems to have all the attributes to play LCB in our system.

6'3, powerful, mobile, aggressive, good tackler in his timing and recovery tackles at speed with those long legs.

Can carry it or pick out passes with that left foot.

Very different profile to Hall who is a more technically elegant ball CM in tight spaces.

I think Hall will need 1-2 years and a loan to fill out physically and develop is defensive understanding.

You only have to have a cursory glance in the Squad for 2024/25 from @spurs9 and @WiganSpur how tight we'll be for getting our quotas in and securing the necessary targets.

Even if we figure we can convert him into the rotation LB hybrid (which after 2 x attackers is our biggest need) we would still need to sacrifice someone. Bentancur or maybe Kulu I guess would be that someone but still feels like an odd link. Unless of course I’m miscalculating which I could well be as I just had my first margarita of the afternoon.
