Well we've all spilled a lot of blood and tears imagining a future where Tom Carroll is at the heart of Tottenham Hotspur's starting midfield, but it appears that future may have to wait a bit longer.

Steve Mclaren is supposedly highly rated as a coach right?

I wish he'd have gone to Ajax or Schalke last season (if those loans were genuinely on the table) rather than being played out of position at QPR.

This would be a mistake. With a serious Europa league campaign surely he can get some games under his belt. With potch doing well with youth at Southampton I don't see why he can't perform this year

Even then we have Bentaleb and Ryan Mason ahead of him, so can't see him getting too many games with us.

This is ridiculous. He is 22 years old and we must have seen enough to make a decision on him. If he has a genuine chance keep him and give him some game time. Otherwise sell him. Another year playing in the championship tells us nothing and stagnates his career.

If he plays well it will increase his worth.

The youth academy and loan system isn't only about bringing prospects into the first team. It's also a revenue stream.

We get a player up to reasonable standard and use the loan system to determine their level and then sell then for as much as possible.

Seems fair enough. Can't see him realistically getting much time this year unless we shed a few

If Harry is not trying to take him for another year in loan then it says a lot...

Let him go, we have too many ahead of him at the moment. Still looks too weak for me, another yr in Championship wil be good for him.
Mason is the interesting one to look at how Poch plays him.

We are overloaded in his position. While he will hopefully become a true hero in the future, it would be wiser to put him into "storage" at a place like Derby to develop than letting him rot in the reserves waiting for a couple of games. Poch needs to mould the squad into his own image, but he does not have the luxury of time at Spirs. Easier to do it with fewer players playing more often.

For people that don't watch the championship, derby play an excellent brand of football and have lots of talented young players.

I understand people's frustration with his progress but if he has to go out on loan derby is a decent option.

Another loan at this stage of Carroll's career tells a tail.I saw a chance for Carroll at Spurs but realistically his opportunities look limited and know if this is true we might consider to sell.

Our academy has a main duty to supply depth for our first team but also ( a thought not talked about) good rounded footballers for the rest of the game.

I'd also add that those not got enough for our first team squad are sold at a profit to reinvest back into the academy system to produce more young players.

Townsend went on loan umpteen times before breaking into the 1St team. Maybe TC can do the same except actually not be as shit?
