this guy is a nutter. seriously. first he tries to play on after being ,literally, chopped down by Cabaye. poor guy was hobbling about and i was laughing and desperately shouting at the tele ''yh mate, run it off moose!''

then he get's really unlucky as he battles with wilshere and seems to twist his ankle. much pain ensues then that turns into anger as he starts to think he's been assaulted again, hobbles off the pitch but hangs around desperate to get back on. is he that desperate to keep his place and run in the side?

has now passed a fitness test to play against inter(i would assume it was not the most comfortable one), and barring any last minute madness from our dear head coach he has to play surely. that is commitment. so heart warming.

Great news about the fitness test, personally id have him starting on the bench tonight and use him 2nd half if necessary, save him for Pool if we can afford to.

I don't think Dembele actually uses his feet to run on the pitch.. he glides

Please rest him tonight. Inter are weak and won't cope with our pace. We can afford to rest Dembele tonight I feel but against Liverpool we will need him badly.

on the bench for me too, with maybe Holtby playing along side Parker (like a modric) let the Gilf keep his place

Agreed, bench him tonight, play him if he is needed, I think we have enough without him tbh. It just goes to show how desperate the whole team is to play and keep their place. Good times

Yep I would love to see him on the bench tonight as well, he's vital for the Liverpool game.

Not only a skillful player is Dembele but a very hard worker too.

TBH I've been completely surprised with how much work Dembele puts into a game. I read an article that when growing up he was positionally moved around but has finally settled for CM (thanks to Martin Jol) as he enjoys battling for the ball instead of waiting for the ball to be played to him operating in advanced positions.

He is hard working no doubt, but wish he runs straight at the heart of the opposition more instead of going side to side.

This is the new Spurs. No more Jenas and Vinny Sideways keeping possession.

We actually try to do something with the ball nowadays.

This is something that annoyed me (about this forum and some fans) - people getting on Dembele's back (and other players too), due to a run of 3-4 average games, not even poor games. Then we get threads like 'Dembele doesn't look like he did earlier in the season' etc etc. One poster said to me that Dembele was only half the player Modric is, during that spell of games, forgetting that Modric when he was with us had far more average to poor games than Dembele does for us.

Anyway just kind of annoys me when fans slag some of our players off, especially the ones with obvious quality like Sigurdsson, Vertonghen (yes people were saying negative things about him too recently), and Dembele, and now people are doing it with Holtby. The thing is, Holtby is a top class player and he will come good but adjusting to the league and the system that our team is playing takes time, it doesn't happen immediately.

Dembele (once cut inside), was totally owning Liverpool yesterday. He's definitely back to his best at the moment.. a joy to watch (y)

Dembele - he's found an old pair of Sandro's underpants......and he's wearing them!

Yesterday was by miles the best game Dembele has played in a Spurs shirt, he was absolutely everywhere. You can argue Jan got MOTM because he scored our goals but let's be honest, Dembele was the best player on that pitch by some distance. Now this all coincided with him playing in an attacking mid spot, sort of taking over for Lennon. I hope we all agree that he needs to play there again...I still don't understand why Sig gets the love from all of you that he does, he doesn't do a thing in my opinion. Dembele has to replace Sig if Lennon comes back, so we'd look at:

Dembele - Bale - Lennon

However, the thing was Dembele played so well on the right because he was able to consistently cut in on his left foot. If we play him on the left I'm not sure that would be the case. I'm not quite sure how good Lennon actually is playing on the left side so I'm not sure if that's an option.

But Dembele truly had one of the best performances of the season yesterday and we can't ignore that and shut him down to the CM spot again, where to be honest, he doesn't impress as much as we'd hope.

I would LOVE to see this vs Fulham.

Lennon - Bale - Dembele
Holtby - Parker

Interested in everyone's thoughts though.
