I agree with you. Absolutely. He knew what he was doing, it was a deliberate act. I just think it was more of a clutch, like the Torres one on Vertonghen, than a jab at the eye. It was very cheap, very nasty. As was the Torres incident. Torres deserved a ban and so does Dembélé.

I am a little curious, as it seems totally out of character. Did Costa provoke him? Someone suggests it looks like he is pinching Dembélé's back.

And I was disgusted that Torres got off with that (spineless, gutless FA again, anyone???). So I'm not going to say he shouldn't be punished. Just that given the precedent set by the FA in not punishing him, I would take it is Dembélé was treated in a manner that was consistent with their previous rulings.

I thought I saw Terry pinching Dembele on the back of his arm just before the eye gouge on one of the replays

10 games is crazy. Isn't that what that ex Spurs defender got for the forearm smash that broke a players cheek bone a few years ago. Chewy Luis had previous for biting so they had to hit him hard. Hopefully just paper talk.

He's not even going to be charged, because it happened right in front of the lino, who obviously saw it, and if a match official saw it at the time, it can't be punished later (see Torres v Vertonghen, 2013)

Apparently they changed the rules after that incident.

Perhaps he should have gouged his eyes if he's going to get a 10 game ban for not gouging his eyes, that's a lesson for other players in the future.
I suspect it's the sun's way of creating a story then if he gets less they can play the indignant card.
