Redmond went for around 2 million, and he was highly rated, so would imagine it would be a touch more.

If Mitchell and Poch rate him then that's that in my mind.

He's been a very good player for Birmingham this season, and he eve for a hattrick against Reading last week. I would say for the good of his career he should stay in the championship, but a promising player no doubt.

In a honesty though I think Michail Antonio would be a better buy from the championship at the moment. I doubt he'd move on in January but he is more built for the prem than Gray imo.

Don't get this. We have Oduwa. Considering a few of us think Oduwa could play Championship now, do people not think that if he was in Birmingham's or another Championship sides academy he would not be getting a chance with them and could easily be targetted by other clubs. Conversely if Gray was in our academy he's be in the same situation. I can't imagine he would be ahead of Pritchard who is currently the best player and responsible for a team two points off top of the Championship. Let alone Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela and Townsend.

Oduwa was tearing up u18s last year has also been starring for the u21s and represented England last year.

It would be an unnecessary spend on something that is not significantly greater than we already have.

I've said similar in other threads, if we're to sign a wide player he should be better or at least challenging the 1st XI otherwise someone like oduwa will be done and dusted with us without ever getting a fair chance.

The only place we need to sign a young prospect is upfront, we have a lot of talent coming through the academy, I don't see why we'd block it

I don't know a whole lot about Oduwa, but from what I have seen he doesn't look excessively quick. Looks more like a power wide forward than anything else.

It isn't always about quality, but also specific attributes. We are desperately lacking in pace and trickery up front.

He is definitely quick but it depends on how quick you mean. He isn't Walcott but I defintely think he is quick enough to stretch defences and he plenty of tricks. I reckon he is at least as quick as Townsend and a more powerful runner.

If he's truly as quick as Townsend, then that's what we need. Power is what I've picked up from what I've seen of him, but often at this level that means they often lack the tight space dribbling ability with their higher center of gravities and heavier legs.

With all due respect, we just cannot continue only adding players on whether they're quality or not. That's a major contributing factor to how we got into such a bloated and unbalanced squad as is, because we didn't consider compatibility, only quality and profit potential. I'm all for integrating Oduwa if he's capable, but as of this moment I wouldn't forego a very pacey option for him because pace and the will to have a go is the tenet most missing from our game at the moment in my opinion.

Am I missing something, re Townsend and this 'pace' that I always seem to see people associating him with? I'm not being argumentative (I think you're one of the guys on here who's mature enough to know that), I've just never seen it. There was certainly no evidence of that pace earlier in the season :(

He's not blisteringly quick, no. But a) I don't think he believed he had a chance there and b) Moreno is a pretty damn quick white boy. There are definitely faster ones out there, such as oh I dunno... Konoplyanka  But for me he's at what I would call a "threshold" for pacey. Slower than him, not particularly interested anytime soon. Quicker, I'm all ears.
