Perhaps, on reflection, José Mourinho wished it had been Dele’s brother after all. As Dele Alli hurled his water bottle to the ground in fury at being substituted against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night, as first right boot and then left boot were flung off, Mourinho might have been tempted to conclude that his attempts at motivating his star playmaker had not met with unreserved success.

It was the right sub. Which seems more likely to be why he reacted that way as the truth hurts. A talented player, but seems to need a striker ahead of him to play to his best

Has sublime skills, especially when the ball is bouncing around, or in the air. His Achilles heel is he is easily hustled off the ball, and doesn't have enough strength to ride through tackles and challenges. I wish he could muscle up a little.

Taking off the third highest goal scorer in the squad and being 0-1 down at home isn't a smart move

I've said this numerous times and maybe recently people are taking note Dele is one of the hardest working players in the team. The amount of pressing he does the number of sprints he makes its high energy... you can see his frustration at time when others ain't pull their weight.

Anyone can run around, the reason he got taken off is because he’s final ball and end product is laughable at the minute, He needs to fix up sharp

In isolation that is a sensible point of view. But spurs looked more threatening and sharper once he went off. That's more about the team shape and the cm than Dele alone, but he looked a bit slow and off the pace to me and just had one of those games. Was in the right place a couple of times around the box but didnt produce.

As I've said many times, I think he is a good player. It's no coincidence he has stopped scoring when the team have so many injuries.

In the context the CL game. We defended deep Dele made so many runs and fought hard to gain possession anytime he did there was nobody near him.
Have a look at his record for you to say his final ball and end product is laughable quite frankly is laughable... You are wrong.

I would suggest selling him, Dier, Rose, Sissoko, Foyth and Davies. We could get far better, hungrier replacements, with room to grow.

"Mourinho has said he sees Alli primarily as a No 10 playing off the striker, rather than as a midfielder"

Which was clear moment Jose signed, even before he said it out loud. And now that we don't have anything resembling such striker it's no wonder they can't seem to fit him in.

I think Ali’s biggest problem is he can’t shot from distance. Has he ever scored outside the box? He only scores when close to goal and we rarely get there as a team now.

I agree it's being revealed now his limitations. He used to try and I've seen him score some for mk dons, when sometimes he was played deeper and arriving at the edge of the box late. I also think much of his best work is edge of the box.

What I don't understand about him now is against man city at home a few years back it was tactical he played as a striker, much the same as against Chelsea where he scored 2 almost identical headers from eriksen crosses and Harry played deep. Why can't he do it now? I think it's almost his only chance now to either play striker or wide forward or he will prove to inefective to be efficient. Sometimes I've liked him when played deeper.,but much of his good work came drifting from the left. It's a cross roads for him right now.
