Yup, if anything Everton have disrupted Deles career with their antics. Before they could plead poverty, now they are actively signing players then there is no excuse.I'd say it's more cynical from Everton, they wanted to sign him but they couldn't afford the transfer fee. So they restructured the deal so they only pay the full amount if he plays a certain number of games. They then prevented him from triggering the clause limiting how many games he could play.
It sounds as though there wasn't a cut-off date included on the clause so if they sign him on a free transfer and he plays then the original clause would be triggered and they owe us money.
Also Dele is free to continue his career elsewhere.
But like anything it's negotiation, I'm sure we'd accept a reduction in the fee if Everton are reasonable about it.
