My head would explode.

A couple of our former players have in the past, although not for us. Ossie wore the number 1 shirt in the 1982 world cup. Edgar Dvids wore 1 when manager at Barnet.

Good on them for doing that.
Yeah, but there's a part of me that's gutted he's not training at our place.

Whatever though, I just want to see the lad back on his feet, his career back on track and him enjoying the game again.

I don't think many things in football would make me happier than seeing Dele strutting around a pitch again with a smile on his face.

Now he’s out of contract any payments they would owe us for number of appearances would be void yeah?

So he could re-sign with Everton and not be denied appearances due to them worrying about having to give us more money, which is great for Dele.

I doubt Levy has let that happen.

Don't see how Levy could wring money out of that one when Dele is literally out of contract as we speak.

I guess it might be down to the wording of the contract.

If it just says if he plays for Everton X times. He might have a loophole to still have that criteria active if he re signs.

If it's only saying it's over the length of the contract or X years. No hope.

Would be nice to still earn a few quid out of this, but hopefully not to the detriment to his future if Everton won't re-sign him because of any lingering contract terms.

It's a weird one this. How far are Spurs meant to go in being charitable towards Dele? Is the burden really on us to forego millions because if he re-signs for Everton they will have to pay up what they agreed in the transfer?

Everton bought him in good faith, on a hugely incentivised deal for a player that 3 seasons earlier was valued at over £100M. They should be taking care of him now as well as paying what they agreed.

Would imagine it will also involve our commitments to Everton re Richarlison and coming to a compromise there or conversely used in bartering for perhaps Onana or Branthwaite.

It's hardly being charitable when he can sign for literally any other club and Spurs get nothing.

I'd say it's more cynical from Everton, they wanted to sign him but they couldn't afford the transfer fee. So they restructured the deal so they only pay the full amount if he plays a certain number of games. They then prevented him from triggering the clause limiting how many games he could play.

It sounds as though there wasn't a cut-off date included on the clause so if they sign him on a free transfer and he plays then the original clause would be triggered and they owe us money.
