Forster currently has the #20 shirt. But the #1 shirt is free, as Vic likes his #13. Soo, ya see where I’m going with this? Anyhoo, here’s some of his goals.

I was thinking this, not in terms of Dele but could an outfield player take the number 1 shirt? Would love to see the OCD meltdown if a midfielder took it

Would he count as home grown and club trained? If he accepted a modest wage on the basis that he has to earn his next contract then we’d be crazy not to do it.

It’s so wrong, that just the suggestion of it gave me sweaty palms and anxiety.

I was totally gutted when Dele left probably more out of what could have been. I’d love to think he could have a role for us for the next couple of seasons whilst the likes of Bergvall, Devine, Donley etc mature. I just don’t see how someone can come back (from being so off the pace for 4 years) to playing for a club a top 6 pl team.

However, I’d love to be proven wrong and I do think if anyone would believe it possible then Ange would be the man.

I don't expect us to give him a contract but if it helps him to get his career back on track then I am all for it.

This reminds me of just how much we miss the splitting passes of Toby and Jan. So many of Dele's goals come from a diagonal ball played from the back that just split teams open.

Great idea. Take up a squad place with someone whose best days are behind him And is nowhere near our level.

forgive me if im wrong on this as i dont really understand the squad numbers / home grown / club trained thing but isnt it a case that if they are home grown and club trained then they dont take up a squad space? i.e you only have restrictions on the number of foreign players registered which is why most number 2 or 3 goalkeepers are english?

Pretty much, yes.

They say "25 man squad" but the important number is that you can have a maximum of 17 foreign players over the age of 21.

In the PL, U21 numbers are unlimited and in practice homegrown over 21s are unlimited as well. UEFA rules are slightly different and differentiate between homegrown club trained and nation trained players, but the 17 foreign players over 21 bit is still valid there too.

As Dele signed for us young enough to count as club trained he'd basically be a freebie in the squad. Whether we should take him on in terms of his current ability or whether he'd just be in the way of the emerging talents like Donley and Moore is a different matter.

Thank you. Basically confirms what i originally thought and didnt really warrant the sarcastic response i got above.

Okay, that gif didn't move as it wasn't a gif I copied, but I did my best and point stands.
