He certainly aint looking like a future England centre back at the min......

Seems completely flumoxed by a football either in the air or on the ground......

He's obviously better with an experienced head next to him but he hasn't improved and seems to be going backwards. I've always been a supporter for Dawson but he is definitely struggling. We need King back, and fast.

Snake, this is not a personal attack on you by any means. I thought I'd get that out of the way right away.

Basically, Snake's statement is what you'll hear at the Lane every Saturday/Sunday/Thursday. The likes of Dawson (Lennon and Berby added to him) get away with murder. You can't criticise Dawson without a physical threat being thrown in your direction.

I'm not one of criticise. I support all of them really, through thick and thin... but the whole "Dawson plays better with an experienced head" bugs the feck out of me. Who doesn't play well with a Ledley King next to them? Yes we're missing King, but the rest of them have to step up. Dawson plays for Spurs, not West Ham. He can't live off 2006/2007. He must step up now and help keep Jol in his job.

On the topic of Jol. He finished his Spurs career the day Kelmsley talked to Ramos. Please remember BMJ on his incredible two seasons before this one.

I knew I might get dug out for that. I actually agree with you, I was just afraid of being controversial, you know what certain members are like on this board.:)

Dawson needs to up his game and, to be fair so does the rest of the team.

I thought he looked suspect last season and couldn't understand his callup, the main plus point from last season was his commitment and willingness to play in every signle game, that's not to say he was any good though.

This season, however, he's been worse than titus bramble.

Dawson is a much better defender than we are currently seeing. It is no coincidence that he looks very shaky partnering Kaboul. Younis wanders off during games leaving Dawson confused looking like a rabbit in headlights. This partership simply isn't working. Daws looks much better partnering AG or obviously Ledders.

Over the last two seasons the pluses have outweighed the minuses. So far this season, it's been the other way around, and the 'inexperience' excuse is running out fast. Amazingly, he's only started nineteen fewer games than Gardner, the only surviving relic of the Graham era.

The problem is, we currently have two fit CBs, and Daws is one of them.

Ho-hum…

I have been trying to tell you this for nearly 3 seasons.

I wouldve also been doing same thing if i thought i could doing it without getting death threats frm members of this site.

I remember him looking like a fool when kanu for west brom dropped a shoulder and with his well known burst of pace leave dawson for dead.

headers and hoofs are not enough to get by in the premiership.

It's a really big shame. I'm very disappointed. I really thought Dawson had the potential to grow into a rock for us, a reliable, intelligent centre back. But now I just think there isn't a great deal of hope for him at all. He's getting worse rather than better.

He is doing what all of our young players do under Hughtons coaching. Gets steadily worse after initial promise.

I actually thought Dawson played pretty darn well his first year at the club but for most of last year and all of this one he has been a huge problem and until he gets sorted out no manager in the world could turn us around. BC can attest that I have been saying this for most of last year to a lot of grief by Dawson supporters.

If you give up 3 goals a game it is going to be next to impossible to win games, and I never thought I would say this but I would rather us win a game 1-0 and play much more defensive than this 4-3 back and forth stuff that is entertaining to watch but doesn't result in any points. We could use a boring 1-0 win at this point because I don't want to be searching for ways to watch and listen to Spurs in the Championship next year and if Spurs can't turn it around and do it quickly that will be what I am doing next year.

Dawson has gone backwards in his development at the club and for me questions should be directed towards the coaching staff. Not only Dawson, Lennon is another player who hasn't really kicked on.Tony Gardner makes lets mistakes than Micheal Dawson but gets more flank.

The whole defensive unit has to be looked at seriously by Jol, the blend of defenders at the back on paper look okey but in reality very crap. Dawson and Kaboul shouldn't be playing together both inexperienced defender both in need of an experienced centre back i.e Gardner, Rocha, King (all injured). Chimbonda and Lee big question marks IMO on there positional defensive play at set pieces, to many times we've been caught out because of poor marking and timid aggression in the tackle.

Jol i starting to believe has lost the plot... he made a silly statement in the week about Newcastle and then got spanked by two clear goals....not good enough.

Spot on. My exact thoughts. At the way we are at the moment, we can't afford to be trying to play entertaining games, we need the boring wins, we are in the Fkn relegation zone. We need to be getting a goal and be parking the COACH! Defend, defend and DEFEND. Although, as I've said before, you could put six defenders in our back line and I still think we would concede easily. Just look back at the 3-3 Fulham game, we had five in defence and conceded 2 FFS!
