Judging by youtube only Malcom is much more polished in technique than Neres. Reminds more N'Koudou than Marcus Edwards. A bit headless chicken, very raw.

Starting to do the rounds on twitter now.

Goal Brasil are reporting that we're willing to pay up to 44 million for him.

I've not seen Neres play so I can't really comment but I was hoping we'd push for Kluivert more than Neres. What do I know though.

Of course, as performing in the Dutch League is a fantastic barometer for success in the PL:(

Well......it's worked for Sanchez, Eriksen, Vertonghen etc.

Obviously hear what you're saying but Neres has at least been playing regular football in a european league which is more than Edwards has been doing.

Having said that though, I'd sooner wait and see how Edwards does at Norwich for rest of the season before pulling the trigger on Neres.

I was watching this highlights video against Willem and not sure what to think. Silky skills for sure though and decent eye for goal. He only joined Ajax in January last year, probably not ready for a move.

A few wayward passes there. Very raw. Looks a cross between Sissoko and Eden Hazard.

I could give you tonnes of attacking failures to match the examples you've given starting with Vincent Janssen, Memphis Depay, Bryan Ruiz, Ryan Babel, Luuk De Jong, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Jozy Altidore...

Marc was saying that he is PL ready and doing well in the Eredivisie is no measure of that.

Janssen had 1 good season in holland after playing top level football for a year just like this guy. So let's not get too excited that he'd be ready for us.

He's not even had that. He's played a total of 29 games over 2 seasons for Ajax.

£40-50m now for completely unproven talent. The market has been getting crazier for a while now, but just shows that we should have made more decisive moves for attacking talent in the summer.

Not what we need. We need someone who can come in and make an impact immediately.

Malcom much more likely to.do this. Neres way too raw. Would take him a couple more seasons of development at least. We can't wait that long.

Yeah but he's at the only club in Europe we haven't pissed off past the point of no return :p

40 million for Neres or 60 million for Sessegnon.

It's completely out of control.

And to put that into perspective, Mahrez was available in the summer for about £50-60m. At 26 years old.

Obviously wages are a different story to these younger players, but according to ITK and media everything points to us upping our wages next season anyway with our increased revenue and market pressure.

I know I’m like I stuck record with this ( and for all I know he could have been asking for 200k a week), but it just bugs me that he was seemingly attainable as he would have been perfect for us ( and still would be). And now he’s had a better season and things are more settled at his club we have zero chance of signing him.

Maybe Poch doesn't want Mahrez.

Neres is a very good player, fwiw. Couldn't warrant spending over £20m on him though, even in this climate.*

*this opinion is based on about 3 games worth of watching, so hardly expert analysis.
