Love him for his footbal, hate him because he lacks talent...

The guy is still the fucking man.

Can't get in the first starting 11 at Milan, yet he is still THE biggest name in football.

Thank fuck he is ours, because he is a true fucking legend.

I'm really excited watching the Utd game tonight, to see what kind of reception he will get, providing he gets onto the pitch.

But, whilst many debate his football skill, IMHO he was truely world class, and still remains one of Englands best and most technical footballers.

Cracking guy, many modern footballers could do worse than using Beckham as an example of how to live the modern day footballers life.

Apparently he promised his grandad that he would play for spurs one day...

I think his lack of pace is what stopped him from being a true world class/great player.

He definitely was a world class player, pace or no pace. One of the games true greats, and a gentleman too. I think he still has plenty to offer England too, great impact off the bench and a real asset in the dressing room.

See id never put him in the same category as players such as Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane. Those are what id call world class players.

I'm not so sure, personally Yawa, although this has always been the case when discussing beckham. As good as he was, was he ever right up there with the best?

I believe he was. Whilst he was as flamboyant as the names you mention, he still had a massive effect on the teams he played for. Not just with his dead ball skills, but also his work rate and team play.

As i said i could never put him up in the top % of players in the last few years. There are a number of players that have what Beckham has plus they are mobile and for me they stand out.

Well I most definitely would. One of Man United's best players when they were the best team in the world, scoring a goal every 4.5 games in over 250 appearances. Took England to the world cup and then moved to Real Madrid where he also dominated. Even when Capello victimised him, he came back in and almost single handedly won them the title. The guy is a genius and has won the biggest trophies available (bar the world cup). How is that not world class?

To be honest mate, it was over 10 years ago when he was rated that highly in the world.

1999 and 2001, he came 2nd in the Fifa world player of the year.

Behind rivaldo and figo.

For me that puts him in that bracket, around those world rankings by the guys who know more than use.

I do know what you mean though, honestly I do. The worlds greatest players with what you have mentioned, I agree, but Becks was definitely world class (if there is a defeinition of that!!)

I think going by that reception it's very light hearted. They were booing him then singing 'Fergie, sign him up'

Becks is a total legend in my eyes

The cameras will be all over him at the end of the game. This experience will be with him until the end of his days.

I think Milan could have done with him on from the start, they have been rubbish, like really rubbish.

I reckon on this showing, we'd give them a stuffing!!!

An aging team - no legs. I imagine that Chelsea may find a similar situation towards the end of this season and most certainly require radical surgery before next season.
