Welbeck has scored 14 goals in the past 4 years for United in the Prem. They say he's better at linking the play but he only has 4 assists in that time.

Adebayor almost has that tally last year with 11 goals and 4 assists in 21 games.

Arsenal needed a goal scorer and instead they got Danny Wellbeck. I cant believe how some people were so desperate for him.

He is pony.

Welbeck outside the box, Welshit in it.

I'm glad we stayed well away from this.

I'm certain we'll sign Jay Rodriguez in January for much cheaper than that, he also knows how Poch wants him to play, and he has a much better scoring record than Welbeck.

Liverpool will be all over Jay Rod in Jan as will many big clubs so I wouldn`t hold my breath waiting for that transfer to happen.

Yeah I hadn't realised he was going to cost that much.

That obviously changes things.
Looking back at it now, I'm not as annoyed that we didn't get him.

He didn't want a loan, which is what we wanted- so obviously that was a major reason why we didn't get him.

But then on a permanent deal, he'd cost £16million and have £100K-a-week, which is ridiculous IMO. That being said, I'm still annoyed we didn't get a LWF. Also, no matter what we say, if you properly think about it, no player is going to choose us over Arsenal at the moment- maybe if it was a loan, he would've picked us but he didn't want that so there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Hopefully in January we'll get Jay Rodriguez, who may cost near to £15million but his wages will be MUCH less...

:eek::eek:... You sure you've quoted the right members post?

Er...yeah...this was your post, was it not? I'm starting to question myself now!

"Why? Genuine question born from my lack of understanding as to why so many supporters seem more interested in our accounts, than in our team.

When you've answered that question, could you possibly tell me which clubs have spent more money in the PL over the last 10 or so years? Then, out of those clubs, tell me how many of them are facing the prospect of a £400mil+ stadium development? How many of them have stupidly rich bent Russians or Arabian gazillionaires as owners? How many of them have to manage and sustain hundreds of millions of pounds of debt"?

Cheers (y)

Yep that was my post. I'm just not used to someone actually saying I'd made a good post :D

I was fine with him coming, but I honestly thought it would be around 60k a week and a 2m loan fee. On that kind of money (what scum are paying) he would have gone straight in as one of our top earners, dont think we could justify that to the rest of the squad.

more evidence that Danny is the *finished* article and not a work in progress
Oh? That sounded like a Welbeck puff piece op-ed to me. He can be Arsenal's Sturridge? Just needs "affectionate maitenence." Said he should look up to Costa as he can be another one since they are same style's of player. Not his fault he wasnt great for United. Kept pointing out that he's only 23. Said "promising."

...he scored once in his last 29 matches...hardly prolific for 40m quid over the length of his contract. I compare him to Sturridge as they are similar ages and background. Sturridge has developed into a much better player and dangerous finisher. I think Webeck is morphing into a second striker who plays off the main one somewhere on the wing, um sort of...enough said. I think Poch still wants JRod.

Brendan is a huge fan of J Rod, just sayin.

Coutinho didn't look particularly thrilled to be sitting against us last weekend, would be very surprised if Pool went in for J Rod in January unless injuries or fatigue are a problem. Though on the flip side, getting through their UCL group (likely) could create those problems so who knows.

Jay Rodriguez for £15m would still be questionable I think personally. I'm still not completley sold on the guy if I'm honest, not for the prices being thrown around and I even would prefer Welbeck. I can imagine J Rod being great in games that we're dominant in like the QPR one but someone with pace like Welbeck would have made life easier for us in tougher games like the West Ham and Liverpool one in my opinion.

Do you think J-Rod doesn't have pace...?
