Just heard this from a Chelsea "mate". Could require months off, does that mean he will miss Olympics?

Don't rate him at all. By all means a decent player with good potential, but he does come across as an asshole. The transfer from City to Chelsea, and the whining about not playing CF/striker for Chelsea.. Just doesn't seem like a good influence on the dressing room spirit.

..then again, I said the same thing about Adebayor when he came to us. No matter what comes of this I will cheer him on when/if playing for us. I just don't want us to buy him. :)

Would certainly test how badly he wants to play in the middle, bc if we keep Ade, Sturridge and Bale would be wide. As good as Ade is at holding the ball up, those 3 up top could be amazing.

Sturridge is certainly a better finisher than Adebayor, but then again, so is Defoe. Like others are saying, I would rather have Adam Johnson out wide, or even Lennon. That is, if Lennon manages to stay fit.

Apparently according to Mail we are making a £5mill bid for him, only Levy would try something that crazy:cool:

I was at the 1-1 against Chelsea at the lane back in December and Sturridge celebrated his goal looking at the fans in my direction so he can fuck off. Oh, and I don't really rate him that highly anyway.

Indeed. People will continue to judge a young player who is stuck out wide to accomodate a misfiring Torres and not a striker though. The guy can finish. He'd be excellent as 2nd striker.

We could do a lot worse than Sturridge, especially at the prices talked about above.

I can't understand why Chelsea would sell him to us though.

Quite frankly, with all the shit they've done to us over the past few months, it's the least they could do.

Loan move maybe?

Although given Chelsea's massive stockpile of midfielders they are going to want to move some players on.

I do rate Sturridge - my only concern would be that he might bring some of his AVB Chelsea era baggage with him and affect team morale?

I might very well be wrong here but I've seen mention that this is the final yr of his contract.
