This is a petition to get Daniel Levy knighted.

That's right, the man who got £10m (possibly raising to £12m) for Peter Crouch! For this alone the man deserves a peerage. How the fuck he managed that is anybody's guess. My only conclusion is that Pulis and Redknapp are old pals, so Pulis has done his old mate a favour!

In all seriousness. I'd like to thank Crouchy for scoring the more memorable goals of our recent seasons. Eastlands to take us into the Champions League and the San Siro against AC Milan, in particular.

Thanks Crouchy. Time to move on though!

Now to shift Pav and Defoe?

At Stoke they think he is going to get on the end of all of Delap's throw-ins. They are probably right, but the ball almost certainly won't go goalwards.

Quite astounding business for a 30 year old Giraffe. Hopefully we can get back to playing football now. Cheers and good luck Crouchy!

VDV injured, so we'll be playing 442. Adebayor to a certain extent an unknown quantity. If he doesn't hit the ground running or gets injured, we'll be wishing Crouch was still here

Think everyone's a bit quick to wave goodbye to old Peter. Model professional, happy to play second string, was part of the strike partnership that got us fourth

I'd have shipped Pav out myself

Yeah. The Stoke fans that were celebrating on Sky Sports News clearly have no idea what they're in for.

Crouch was better on the deck than he was in the air. As InOffMyLeftShin implies, his heading was actually pretty poor. Whacking it up to him was a Redknapp tactic, not playing to his strengths

Adebayor is the new big man at 6' 3" - what makes you think we won't "go long" any more just because Crouch has left? Wishful thinking I reckon

Based on his performance against hearts last wk I'd have given pav away! Can't believe he's still with us 3 years on.

I'm pretty sure at no point, regardless of how well Adebayor settles in, will we be wishing that Crouch was still here...

Crouchie has had his moments for us and has played an important part in our history, but when you boil it down he's a striker who:

1. has no pace
2. can't shoot properly
3. has no strength
4. isn't particularly good with his head
5. completely changes our style of play (usually for the worse)
6. doesn't score enough and is a one goal in 4/5 matches striker at best

He does have a very unique set of skills and is a very capable footballer (in his own way), but I can't help but think we will be a far better team without him in the side. Adebayor would have to be pretty bloody bad for us to be begging for Crouchie's return.

I'm in a minority and I accept that, but if Adebayor gets injured or gets the hump, we will seriously regret this. He was still the only man who could even resemble a lone striker (even though not a very good one).

Nowhere to hide for Pavlyuchenko and Defoe now, they wont get the sympathy cheers from the anti-Crouch brigade (although I'm sure some will still do it for Pav, just for shits and giggles) and they need to step up and earn their bunce.

Having said all that......totally agree with the OP, £10m is a brilliant price, I wouldn't have valued any of strikers at that much, and to think we got that for the one that scores the least amount of goals we have done amazingly well.

With VDV as the man in the hole. Parker in that with Sandro gives us the midfield strength to pushg Mordic into the whole I'm not massively unhappy bar not getting Cahill as kaboul is kabull!

Friedal
Walker-Dawson- Kabull - Ekotto

Lennon - Parker - Sandro - Bale

Modric

Adebayor

Good thing that we don't base our opinions on just one match though otherwise we'd give all the squad away.

Feel sorry for Peter the way he is treated. A player who is asked to deal with long balls despite being shit in the air. He never gets free kicks and will get penalised time and time again for doing nothing other than jumping in the air and having the opposition back into him. Someone who gives a 100% and actually covers a lot of ground but never gets respect for it. Someone who helped our Vdv have a very successful first season in the country. He is and has always been happy to fight for his position in the club.

I actually think he is probably a good influence in the locker room and training ground but that is just a hunch.

Having said all that it is a very nice amount of money to receive for him and Levy should be congratulated for it.

what a short sighted thread.

Crouch will out score most of our strikers this season.
you can quote me on that.

Surely Stoke were willing to pay, what they believe he's worth. I dont think Levy tricked them into adding an extra zero on the end. I dont know why he should get that much credit. There were a few clubs in for Crouch, that should tell you, people in football see he has use.

I would have much rather got rid of Pavlyuchenko, but there didn't seem that many interested in him. Wonder why? He's got a nice song though.

It wouldn't be much of an achievement. If you're counting our strikers as Defoe, Adebayor and Pav he'd have to outscore two of them. If Harry plays one striker then two of them aren't going to score much.

In terms of goals per minute though, he won't outscore those three.
