I think people are being harsh on the op

Going to watch a local team play is very different from switching aligiance to another club

He can still support the club from a far - most posters on here seem to watch the team play exclusively via streams anyway so there's not a great deal of difference and he wouldn't be any less of a fan

Personally I'd sooner go spurs games than another teams matches even as a neutral even if the journey was a ball ache but different people get different things out of a match day experience and maybe the op is better suited to having a jolly with his mates at his local club and supporting spurs from a far

The original post did make you sound more like you were suggesting he consider stopping supporting spurs in favour of another team which is why you were met with negativity

If your op had asked do you think it's ok to watch your local team with your mates on a Saturday while still supporting spurs I doubt anyone would have anything negative to say about it

Problem is I live in south london!

I think you have stumbled on quite an interesting point

Our average age at WHL is mid forties which means a majority of the crowd has been going for well over 30 years

Familiarity breeds contempt so they say and for the majority of those supporters I'm sure it does. The longer you go the more you moan, generally

I can only see the average age continuing to rise other than the tourists who will go to the new stadium and the new age supporters who want to watch football as if they were in their arm chair at home

Not a great recipe for the future in relation to atmosphere

In regards to going to watch another club, Knock yourself out, but if Tottenham is in your blood then watching someone else will mean nothing and you will very quickly lose any interest you might have had.

Had a season ticket for 5 years at Ajax when I lived in Amsterdam ( 2000 to 2005 ), was about € 200 a season.

Watched the likes of Ibrahimovic, Sneijder and van der Vaart

I watch and support Wycombe as well as Spurs. Was just as gutted when they lost the Playoff Final last month as I've been when Spurs have missed out on Champions League on the final day.

I'd quite happily go to any ground and watch a game as a complete neutral, but I'd never actively support any of the teams I was watching. And supporting another top flight team? No way. Never. Only if Wycombe ever made it up.

I'm actually planning to go and watch some Watford games next season. I'm feeling like my relationship with Spurs is a bit loveless at the moment, so thought experiencing a newly promoted local team where the fans are ecstatic just to be here might do me some good.

I've been to a few Colchester United games in the past and always look out for their results as I live near Colchester.

But my first and only love will always be Spurs.

There's a massive difference between watching another team play as a neutral observer and becoming a fan of other team

I don't see any reason why one could not do the former, circumstances can dictate

The latter however - not a chance

I can't even get as passionate about a different sport, so a different team is completely out of the question

Update:

Firstly, id like to say I dont care what other people think now. The Victor Moses link has pushed me over the edge lol. Ive been loyal to Spurs for 30 years, but my patience has finally gone. Im not spending my hard earned cash to go an see a team so devoid of ambition. Levy, yu can take you Fazio's, Davies, Trippiers, Wimmers and shove em up your ass. You take me for a mug. No net spend in 6 years. We are the 13th richest club in the world, revenues of 200m next season. we deserve better than what we are getting and being charged for.

Ive bought 2 chelsea memberships. A friend has 2 arsenal. Next year, I will be going to stamford bridge and the emirates as a neutral to see some decent football. I wont be back until Levy and Lewis are gone.

Im gonna enjoy watching Fabregas, Sanchez, Ozil, Cech, Costa, Oscar, Willian, Courtois et all. And not feel guilty about it. Im spurs through and through. But Im also a football fan. I aint gonna take this shower of shit served up at WHL anymore.

Fuck off then, you won't be missed.

And if you didn't care what people think you wouldn't be posting your garbage on a Spurs forum.

I don't think someone who is 'Spurs through and through' can ever really be/should be neutral to Chelsea and Arsenal.

But cheers for the epic meltdown, most entertaining.(y)

And he isn't even neutral if he is paying for seats. If you buy seats for Chelsea games you are literally a Chelsea supporter.
