So now that we've spent 25+5 on Odobert, rather than c. 55m on Neto, does this get revisited as its still not resolved?

There’s been loads of chat about Gallagher as a box to box midfielder / no. 8 type but could he play no. 6 in Ange’s team?

He seems energetic and a good ball winner, but is he press resistant enough to operate in a defensive midfield position for us? I’m genuinely not sure as haven’t really watched him enough - would be interested in others’ opinions on this.

If so I would be much more into this potential move, just don’t feel we need another no. 8 so am hoping he’s being considered for a more deep lying role.

Not sure really. He can tackle, but can he take the ball on the turn and beat the press? Is he tactically aware enough? Not his strong suit IMO.

That role has Gray written all over it

He probably *could*, in the same way that Sarr could. Would probably be more in 'in case of emergency' cover, rather than a first choice 6. But in any event you'd lose a really strong part of his game which is crashing the box and contributing with some goals

This one is starting to have a deadline day inevitability to it where, if his future is still undecided, he will remain in play for us until the end.
If we do hold an interest i wish we would just bid now with a deadline on our offer so we can get closure one way or the other.
Im not a Gallagher advocate but it would annoy me if our summer recruitment was incomplete because we were depending on the integrity of Chelsea and left it too late to pivot focus elsewhere.

Totally agree with this

I don't agree here though - he's a nice to have for us, rather than a must have IMO. I can absolutely see the logic in leaving it late and making them sweat. It's not like they need a replacement. They're keen to get rid, and the longer they leave it, the more advantageous the negotiating position is. Assuming others don't come in, that is

I'm on the fence personally. Good player, not a great player. We're well covered in that position. So given that profile, I can totally understand why we're not going in two footed right now. Good position to be in, really

Definitely not press resistant. He's an absolute workhorse but purely functional on the ball. Think of him as a Sarr rotation option rather than taking the ball under pressure and dictating from deep.

You want Gallagher on the ball higher up the pitch with space in front as he is better at quick passes and is effective at getting the ball into the right places there, rather than someone who is creative or dictates things and can deal with being under pressure or making something happen.

Also, you want him there to be pressing and helping us maintain pressure on the opposition.

I reckon he'd play as an 8 but we may even use him instead of Maddison at times not as a playmaker but as a player who can press quickly and make quick passes to Solanke and the wingers.

I don't know how you managed to put the words "integrity" and "Chelsea" so close to one another. I'd rather rely on an MP (from any party) telling me the truth.

Really sucks that they're making him train separately from the team. But choose a better boyhood club I guess

I can’t believe how he is being treated by this scummy club. I don’t want him here but I respect him as a player and he has given his all to that shit show. Their fans even gave him his own flag and clearly love him, I’m surprised there hasn’t been more blowback from this.

I've got a feeling he comes to us tbh. No idea why, just think the Odobert signing paves the way for a bigger midfield signing, either Eze or Gallagher and Gallagher is more gettable realistically.

Spoke to his brother, despite the family being die hard Chel$ki they are royally pissed off with his treatment. He won’t be signing for us, either will see his contract out or both Citeh and Villa have sounded the family out

Fair enough - onto the next! If he goes to Villa, maybe we go for Ramsey
