If he doesnt wanna join us, why do we keep coming back? Genuine question. It will feel like we then are just a back up plan for him if he joins.

For me we let him be. He clearly doesn't want to join so what's the point? I would rather have someone who wants to join

To be honest, if I were him, i'd have told Madrid to fuck right off by now. They put a deadline on him deciding and have fucked about over it since. Other than ITK has there ever been anything definitive about him turning us down?

But, there's always a but, we don't know the full story or the real story.

They also allegedly decided to pull put of the deal to sign someone else but la liga told them they couldn't pull out

He is a born and bred Chelsea fan, he has been told he is not wanted by them. Imagine if Harry Kane had decided to join Chelsea over Bayern when he decided to leave us, there would have been uproar.

Joining Atletico was probably the best outcome for him at the time. But should this fall through perhaps he might be motivated to stick it right up Chelsea’s management and that would certainly motivate him were he to join us.

That being said I think they will resolve the issues and complete the deal, this ship has sailed.

It’s time for him to play hardball with Chelsea. Tell them that unless he gets either (1) a contract that pays him in line with other Chelsea players for a minimum of 5 years; or (2) a transfer to a club that suits him (and he doesn’t care if this mean Chelsea cutting their fee expectations) then he will see out the remaining year of his contract and in particular explore signing a pre-contract agreement In January.

Chelsea will fold.

I don't feel sorry for him as you get what you deserve when you're Chelsea but it speaks loads about them that this is how they treat their own.

Blows my mind that players are still grabbing a quick payday and signing for them
Thing is those 7 year deals they are handing out especially to the younger players are giving them huge security against injuries etc at the start of their careers. I do see the appeal.

I don’t blame him if he doesn’t want to come to us… how would we feel if one of our own was holding out for a fair deal and not receiving one chose to go to Chelsea rather than Atletico. That said, if he’s not that bothered personally but wanted to preserve his bona fide Chelsea-man status, he did agree to leave the country rather than go to Spurs and Chelsea wouldn’t make it happen and so he has cover with supporters if he’s “forced” to go to Spurs.

Knowing Chelsea's treatment of their homegrown players he's probably been sent as cargo
I’m presuming they’ve chartered a flight and they haven’t just sent him an email with his sleazyjet boarding pass as that read that he’s on a commercial flyer!

Off to General Football to see if anyone’s worked out who Chelsea will actually name in their PL squad this season.

We need to forget this Gallagher deal, just not a pressing position of concern. Only player I'd take from them is Madueke - would solve a few problems for us.

Sorry to add to the traffic but all I can see is a load of people saying “we shouldn’t revisit this” - where has that even been remotely touted as a possibility?

I’d be weary about Gallagher. The way Chelsea have treated him is very poor and you could easily see that potentially impacting his form if he plays next season as it might take him a bit of time to get over it psychologically - whoever he plays for.

He’s clearly not jumping up and down to play for us, so on that alone I’d pass even if he is still available. I just don’t think his head will be right.
