I'm sorry, did you just compare Connor Gallagher - of the Chelsea-worshiping Gallaghers - to N'Golo Kante?

I don't think there's anything wrong with grouping players with similar strengths to make a point. I never said Gallagher was better or as good as Kante. I said midfielders like this can win you titles. Non stop intensity between both boxes, allied with brains and solid technique. Gallagher strengthens our first 11 in a big way imo.

I don't think you're doing particularly well to prove your point here. Gallagher isn't in the same stratosphere as the players you've mentioned. That's like putting someone like Gil in the same bracket as Messi because he can dribble a bit.

I just about understand the point you're making, but signing a slightly above average player just because he runs around a bit isn't the way forward.

(I kid, I kid... happy enough if Ange wants him and we sign him)

I guess we've touched base again with his reps and are waiting to hear back just how open he is to considering coming to us - at this stage, given his other options

If we get postive feedback, maybe we throw our hat into the ring officially.

Sound plausible?...

I wasn't intending to write up a detailed analysis of him (because I'm lazy), only came here to say that his engine is elite, and he couples this with good decision making and very sound technique between both boxes. He's the all action midfielder we need. There are very few like him in the PL, and I think we are underrating him on here imo.

Sharing this stat I found which hopefully explains a bit more clearly why I want him (from December but still a pretty decent sample size of games last season).

His difficulty is not with where he goes it's with going at all, he wants to stay at Chelsea, eventually he will have to accept that won't happen, certainly not on his terms, and then he'll realise that he owes Chelsea nothing and he must make his choice for his own benefit. At that point all previous preferences and prejudices will be put aside and no doubt that's when we'll be in there scratching.

He's already declined their latest contract offer though, which was apparently a 3 year deal and would make him one of the top earners at the club so if you ask, he's made his peace with not staying at Chelsea, a long time ago, which is why we're here now.

I wouldn't be surprised if he declined going to Atletico so that he can either stay in England or go on a free next summer, which he's perfectly entitled to do as Chelsea can't force him out and wouldn't do that. Chelsea fans are fuming with the whole situation.

Think the most likely outcome is he stays at Chelsea; no new deal; big signing-on-fee-free-agent move next year.

You’d have thought if he didn’t want to go there, Atletico wouldn’t have got this far.

To be fair to him, there is a good chance maresca only lasts a couple of months and then their plan goes out the window and he gets in the team.
