If he comes here on not, it's very amusing he's told them he doesn't want to sign a new deal. Another reason throwing big long contracts at their new signings causes problem, existing players are going to want the same when it comes to renewal time.

Yeah thats a good point.

The whole stuff with AM is interesting.

Had he been very keen he would of agreed by now.
Yeah strange one that. Normally you would think the player and his reps would have been sounded out first with a good idea of the personal terms required.

Clearly Chelsea want to cash in as the worst case scenario of him walking on a free next summer is becoming a much stronger possibility. Gallagher holds all the cards... I reckon he will reject AM's advances to play out the last year of his contract. With Chelsea bent over a barrel once the window closes they will give him a ludicrous new contract (5+ years, mega money) just to protect their asset for another few years, but publicly they will both present it as a win "He's one of our own and we want to build around him" / "I have always been Chelsea and want to keep it that way" etc.

I can't believe that we would even be pursuing a deal if his people hadn't indicated to us he would be willing to come.

While I get what you are saying, surely improving one of their direct rivals is the last thing chelsea want to do, if at all that is possible. Selling abroad would suit them over selling within the premier league. I do appreciate that it is a business decision though and less of an actual football decision.
They sold Mount to Utd and they have sold players to Arsenal in the past.

Am I imagining it or did someone on here know his dad or something?
Yeah, there's someone on here who's acquainted with his family. If I remember correctly, that person was told by his family that he ain't coming to Spurs.

Weird he’s rejecting Chelsea contract offers?
Cos they offered 2 years while they offer new recruits 8. He's their captain last season, and came through their academy. It's clear the 2 year contract is so he retains value into the next financial year when they can sell him to avoid psr punishments.

Why sign it when you can choose where you go in a year?

I heard and shared here, he has no desire to come here. And from what I heard yesterday that has not changed.
With how talented Bergvall looks I think it will feel like no time at all before he’s better than Gallagher. Sarr does the same kind of job too and has great potential. It would be a waste of budget that could go on a winger and striker that we need badly. Our need for an athletic CM is really not a strong one.

So were Villa after him as they were considering selling Ramsey to us? It does feel that the Gray transfer changed these ones. I wonder if we will sell GLC now to Villa rather than any sort of swap deal. It's funny actually because I think with the tenacity GLC has if he was reliable he would be better than Gallagher. Similar work rate but better technically on the ball. We never seem to play him as an 8 though.

Best thing all round in my eyes. We don't pay over the odds and can use the funds elsewhere, we also avoid paying extortionate wages, also Chelsea lose out on a fee which would have been pure profit. That tucks them up very nicely. If I was him, it's a no brainer. Take my pick of clubs in 5 months time.
The only other option which would be hilarious is if he rejected athleti and any clubs that were interested in him over here all agreed that they’d only offer what athleti did.
They are then forced into selling to a PL club at a much lower figure or run the risk of losing him for nothing, trouble is what with the American ownership of both villa and Chelsea I’m sure they’d do a deal at £80m…
