If we buy an 8 and a 2, it'll free up space for a 7, who, if it's an adaptable player, would in turn cover for a 11 so that a 3 wouldn't be such a priority.

Fuck my life :D
Hold on. If we buy an 8 and a 2, we could play them together in the 10 role.

We could buy a 4 and a 5 and that would mean we wouldn’t need a 9.

A&C - I think you’re onto something.

Or maybe just on something.

Looks like we signed Gray and no longer have an interest in Gallagher (although possibly this could change who knows).

Chelsea are preparing for potential suitors to show their hands. Tottenham Hotspur are interested and are likely to make a move, but Aston Villa’s admiration is highly unlikely to lead to an approach. Chelsea value Conor Gallagherin the region of £40million to £50m even though he has entered the final year of his contract

I would imagine any intention towards bringing in Gallagher died when we pulled the trigger on Gray.

That’s my guess.

I can only see us moving for Gallagher if we sold Bentancur, Bissouma or Sarr which I feel is very unlikely.

We just don't need him do we? Be a mad way to spend a big part of the budget.
It a a difficult one. Assuming we play the same formation as last season we’d like 4 quality, ready to play midfielders for those 2 midfield places.

We have Bentancur, Bissouma and Sarr all good to play. The question is how ready Begvall and Gray are to play, knowing just one injury to the above three could see is relying heavily on them.

Not many signings I'd hate more than signing Gallagher. Please sign a new contract Conor so this discussion can die a death ASAP.

You'd have thought but the rumours keep persisting nevertheless.

I'm wary at the lack of outgoings if i'm honest and the inevitable impact it will have on our recruitment drive.

Also I'm wondering if Devine gets a chance this season as well as the question of where Kulu will play.

Why? Gray is a 6 isn't he? Gallagher is a pressing 8. Gray competes with Bissouma whereas Gallagher is likely to compete with Sarr.

I'm not advocating for Gallagher btw, but as far as I know these are very different players.

I'm so glad Ange doesn't care about all this 6 and 8 bullshit.

It's not a bad signing at all but we do really need to sign better attacking players. The only way it works is if we use Gray as right back a fair bit and push Bergvall or Bentancur forward in the 10 role (assuming we don't also sign Eze or Doue). If we got say Neto and Gallagher that's not at all bad but just disappointing when for the money we could get Doue.
