It's early so this might be a bit of a ramble, apologies if so..........This is a sad day but I think we all suspected it was coming

There are some older fans who remember the sixties, others, like me have Burkinshaw to cling to and even more don't have anything, the closest they've ever come has been Pochettino and sadly, that's gone sour now. Some of the spite, 'comedy' and vitriol directed his way this past few months has been disgusting. It's gone beyond reasonable criticism with one user asking if that 'incompetent bastard' was still at the club. Shameful and embarrassing. I hope next time we're more grown up about it.

The arguing on here was some of the most heated we've ever seen on SC and it surprises me that some of the more vocal and intolerant are actually now telling us how sad it is and in one case how out of order the club is. Amazing, but there you go. I guess a vocal minority were on here because that SSN poll asking if the club were right to sack him had 85% saying 'no'. That surprised me.

But that's over now and we move on.

Every now and again, probably more often than I care to remember, someone on SC gets offended by something somebody in football does and says something like 'I'm glad he's not at my club'.......We're very very good at stuff like that. We bicker about how we want to win trophies, some want to do it the 'right' way others couldn't care less if a sugar daddy bought the club and we spent our way to success. But always, underpinning it, is this wanting our cake and eating it mentality. Yes we want to win, no not by spending money, it has to be by playing a certain way, the players must be this, the manager cannot do that, everything must be just so or some of us just don't like it.

Now we going to be managed by Mourinho and if he brings a certain abrasiveness to the club then good. If he stands his ground and says what needs to be said then excellent and if he puts a few noses out of joint then so much the better. Wether we actually win things with him or not, the guy could possibly transform the mentality around the club, give the players a kick up the arse and reach them what it takes to be winners and get rid of some of the 'niceness' that in my opinion has always been around us. And if he does that then I'm all for it.

Its about time we got a bit tasty and if between them, Levy and Mourinho can do that then this might all be very beneficial to the club. It's another step in how we're perceived, how we're growing and how the team is developing. Let's give it a chance, the way we've been doing it hasn't worked and I'll say it again ,it's about time we got a bit tasty about things and started putting a few noses out of joint, started to put ourselves about a bit. Down the line this may well be the appointment that properly gave us a shove in the right direction and ask yourselves this........who was the last Spurs manager with a CV like his?

So Jose Mourinho? Yes please, absolutely.

Anyway, a bit of a ramble and now I've got to the end, fuck knows if I actually made the point I was looking to make so I'm off for a coffee.

It is sad that he's gone but our form in 2019 has been absolutely horrendous. Hes been magnificent for the club and turned our fortunes around massively. We have amazing memories to thank him for. But the fact of the matter is this. In 2019

0 wins in 12 away games.
6 wins from 25 league games
23 defeats from 45 games

24 points in 25 league games. That is relegation form no matter what way you look at it.

He said before the CL final that he might leave if we won it. He said in pre season and after the Liverpool game recently that he and the players are still not over the game in June. That is a dreadful mentality. It was 5 months ago. He should have been able to leave it in the back of his mind to ensure the players let it go when they go out to play but hes the leader of those players and they are following suit.

Sad that its ended this way. Sad that he had to go. But it was the right thing to do. He will go on and win things elsewhere. A victim of his own success in some ways. Had us punching well above our weight the last few years. But now we need more. We need something to show for that.

Enter the man that has delivered silverware at every club hes been at.

I think we have acted in haste. Player power has won and I'm afraid Levy bottled it with the rebuild. Levy has taken the cheapest option another business move. I can bet my last dollar Arsenal and the rest of the top 4 are loving we sacked the best manager in most of our life time.
How have we acted in haste? The wheels fell off nearly a year ago and there were signs before that. Player power does need to win sometimes, you can’t just move half a squad on as the manger’s done a poor job and getting them to buy into his training methods and tactical set up. Not really sure what you would expect to happen in this situation? Continue on until we are a couple of points above the relegation zone with no propspect of improving? We are already there. Let’s not kid ourselves about the seriousness of the breakdown

Greatest manager of my lifetime and I’m gutted to see him go. But hopefully we can make that final step up now and only look back on his tenure with fondness.
I am lucky enough to have been around for both Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw so Poch was the third best Manager of my time supporting Spurs. I feel it is all so sad that it has come to this.

Saw an interview a while back with Mourinho in his home town. I think we'll be getting a new Mourinho if he comes. He was explaining how he's refreshed, been studying new systems of working and so on. So if he comes I hope people have an open mind. We may not be getting the surly defensive-minded Mourinho many think. We might but ... Let's stay open minded.

Pochettinho's gone. Whatever I say or think doesn't matter. Let's see who's appointed. How the players respond some are an absolute disgrace. What budget is given to the new manager. Lets judge the team selection. Where we finish in the league. Lets see how many trophies we'll win.

I support Tottenham at the end of the day, even if I'm not happy with this decision.

A Leopard doesn't change his spots. Mourinho is a winner but he's ways become poisonous is how I viewed him.

Lets see

I haven't come here to give any negative comments regarding this.

All i want to say is thank you Poch you genuinely took this club and our players up a level and I'm devastated to see your tenure ended like this. We will always love and respect you and I wish you well on your next endeavor.

He's still magic, you know ❤

Would you still be against him if we won a few trophies playing boring football?
Yes, I would. I'm not going to spend £1000+ a year to and watch shit. It's supposed to be entertainment.

If you never buy tickets then YMMV.

A temporary blip that he'd have fixed from this Saturday, with better tactics or something... :banghead:

Some kind of weird masochism to want to test how shit we can get by making him stay and make everyone as miserable as he evidently became.

Wow, woke up to these news.

Partly devastated, partly relieved. I'll have the fondest memories and the upmost respect for Pochettino regardless of how it ended. At the same time I'm certain that it was the right decision.

I am still at loss to know how the wheels fell off, we were pretty much neck and neck with the top two and suddenly found ourselves toe to toe with West Ham. The fact that we reached the Champions League final leads me to believe that the players could put the effort in for that but couldn't or didn't in the league. I guess that points to a boil that needed lancing but I am gutted.

I mean I am literally looking forwards to winning a couple of trophies over the next three seasons and I don’t really care how we do it.
That's the fucked up crux of it as well. Everyone is just assuming we'll win something. So shit unimaginative football, with a Chelsea has been manager who's a known egomaniac but it will all be worth it because we'll win the league cup.... Football isn't about reading tea leaves and destiny.

I tell you what this reminds me of. When we sold Elvis and bought the Beatles. Little out Tottenham naively wandering into the way the big boys play the game and getting a real shock when it doesn't work.
