I think the guy is a total jackass when he talks to the press but that's ok, it's the press so who cares. Maybe we need his arrogance who knows. I just have this sneaking feeling that this is George Graham all over again.
@Stamford I wonder what in my post rated a "doh". The fact that I think Maureen is a total jackass or my opinion that we could be looking at a repeat of the George Graham fiasco.

Is this the last throw of the dice for Levy ? If this all goes tits up as many expect will he then look to sell the club ?
I don't see it that way.

I think he's done exactly what he's had to do. You don't sack a manager like Pochettino unless you're going to go out and replace him with the best you can get and although there are people who will disagree with me, Mourinho is the best that's available.

Now he has to back him. Not stupidly, with unlimited amounts of spending but within the limits they would doubtless have already agreed.

If he does that, then for me, he's shown ambition and although I'll criticise him when I think he has it coming, where this is concerned I don't see how he can be blamed for at least trying.

My guess would be that Levy and the board got worried that the rebuild would take too long under Poch and that players like Kane and Son would start looking elsewhere.

Imagine the press reports if we finished just outside the Europa places this season. All summer we would of heard ex pros from United, Pool, etc saying that Kane and Son needs to leave. It would if been torture.

This appointment rolls the dice that we might win something with this squad (plus a few additions).

I fully understand the criticism of transfers and player contracts but reluctantly feel this was probably the best decision with Poch and the squad clearly unhappy and it getting worse.

Still gutted... The fact that Mourinho was done in a matter of hours after this announcement suggests that negotiations have been going on for a while too.

Thanks for everything Poch.

I've been waiting for this to happen and this is partly why I've been Poch out especially recently but basically some one-off ITK I was told about from a friend who until recently worked very closely with the players. Verified with @Archibald&Crooks and @Rob

He basically said 9-12 months ago about the behind the scenes issues.

Nothing groundbreaking but some bits below:
•At the time the environment at training and behind the scenes with poch was fairly toxic
•Poch is a complete control freak and at times players felt like it was almost like a prison with his rules and strange mannerisms and many players were starting to grow tired with this environment and his strange moods and decisions
•A number of players were upset with him for dropping Lucas for the CL final
•Poch hated certain players who he'd just freeze out and not talk to, usually the typically English 'laddy' ones like Trippier especially as he didn’t like the fact he drank so often and was a bit chavvy etc, he basically didn’t talk to him most days and only played him because we had no one else, again this kind of behaviour started to unsettle the group (explains why Trippiers confidence was shot all last season and why he left in the summer)
•He basically said that he could see our form continuing to get worse and the CL run to the final was masking the behind the scenes issues and that this coupled with Poch flirting in the media with other jobs etc was only going to end one way soon.

So all nothing groundbreaking but similar to other previous ITK this has been a long time coming unfortunately :(

So it’s out of date ITK so to speak but I didn’t want to share it back then as it was quite sensitive like the Trippier stuff etc, but now it’s happened and he’s out I thought you guys may be interested to be aware of a few of these things and that not all was 'Rosey' in the Poch garden for some time and that it wasn't just a case of Levy not backing him and that Poch kind of engineered his own downfall so to speak which is a real shame given what he did for the club.

Thanks for sharing

Saw a sky sports article that said Levy & super agent Zahavi started working on this after the Watford tie.

I'm amazed tbh. Didn't think he was bold enough to do this, it's worthy of respect.

I remember the week leading up to the CL final, and actually many weeks before, Poch talking about leaving. I wondered What The Hell are you doing?’ It reminded me of the time Harry was flashing his lace underskirt to get the England gig. Harry has it coming. And actually so did Poch but I couldn’t admit it to myself because I loved Poch and really hated Harry.

I don’t like the players and their social media Goodbyes. Why not just text/call the guy rather than sharing with the public?

It’s all PR bullshit isn’t it. Got to be seen to be nice, given the ITK about the moaning going on to Levy from some of em, it’s pure hypocrisy.

Because stupid fans who live by social media and are unable to comprehend the fact that people might actually speak in private will think that the players don't care.

Gives me goosebumps and makes me sad at the same time.

Many thanks for the beautiful video montage Spursgirls. Memories never to be forgotten. Great goals and precious moments in our long and proud history, and all down to Poch and his backroom staff. For me, I'll never forget the drama and incredible ecstasy we all experienced after that wonderful night in Amsterdam last May, and at The Etihad a few weeks before then. God bless and love to them all.

Mourinho left united as a flop but 12 months later we look at his tenure as them overachieving

The guy they replaced him with is most noted as a manager for getting Cardiff relegated. Not really a fair gauge. Ole could be in trouble soon because their record is pretty atrocious too and maybe Poch or Allegri goes there which is a better gauge.
