Yeah I was surprised that Dempsey got so much time (and Defoe over Ade too, even when he was fit and not on walkabout). AVB definitely saw some use in him (at least over the others at times).

Regardless, hopefully we will have a few more goals in the team this season with Soldado and Paulinho, and Dempsey's effectively been upgraded already by Chadli. I think Sig and Holtby are better suited to midfield in any case!
Gotta agree with all of this

I'm surprised he's going back to the MLS at this stage.

closer to home, playing in the US during a world cup year.. He's not going to be first choice with Spurs, maybe it's time for the family to go back after so long away from the States.

Strange move for the Deuce. Would have thought he was two-three years away from this, especially coming in a WC year. Though maybe he thought his best shot for consistent playing time would be over here over whatever options he had in England? Hard to believe he didnt have midtable options. Be very interesting to see the fee - Dempsey is worth a lot over here, so perhaps MLS ponied up.

Only thing I can think of is maybe he felt a little like a nobody in the EPL these days and wanted to go somewhere he could be "the guy" again. Otherwise, I thought this move was still at least 2 years away for Dempsey.

Eddie Johnson with him at Fullham now Sounders? Would actually be great for the USMNT... odd move for Clint. I actually thought he'd go to Italy when we signed him last year :\

Damn, Seattle is a great spot to end up in. Well, I don't mind the rain anyway. Really liked the atmosphere when I visited. Kewl little corner of the world.

I don't get how transfers work in MLS so would anyone be able to fathom how much we might get? Given he's like America's star 'soccer' player... I'm hoping around £7-8 million ??

We'd get that amount. Not sure who'd pay it exactly but we'd get it.

Actually, maybe a little less. Make back what we paid for him? Keano, who was older and was twiddling his thumbs for a long time went for almost £4m I think.

But Clint is a US stalwart and in his prime. You'd hope we might make a little coin on the deal but eh.

Be a shame... when the chips are down and in the 91st minute you need someone who won't bottle it, clint's your man.

sounds coming from here in Seattle would indicate the Sounders have their man. in one way, i'm sad to see him leave Spurs -- but delighted for him to join the Sounders.

Why come here? I think he sees how much the MLS has grown. He also sees potential in playing for a team that regularly gets 40,000 or more fans per game.

i think his head was turned when he played for the US against Panama over the summer in Seattle. Apparently all of the US players were blown away by the fan support. Including many that ply their trade abroad. Indeed, it was reported that a fair few of them said that it was easily on par with some of Europe's more raucous stadiums.

so, i think Deuce took a look at the experience -- and perhaps felt it was worth giving it another shot. that, and maybe Mr. Allen offered him a shit ton of money.
