AC Milan legend distinctly unimpressed with Tottenham Hotspur's Paulinho's display for Brazil.

For the upcoming season I'd actually quite like seeing a midfield 3 of Sandro, Capoue and Eriksen. I assume we will play a 4-3-3

----------Lloris----------
Walker-NEW-Verts-NEW
----Sandro--Capoue---
--------Eriksen------
Lamela---ADE---NEW

If we can add an experienced CB, talented young homegrown LB, and a proven big signing at LW/LF who can deliver a good cross and impact the scoreboard.

Certainly his performances so far have not enhanced his reputation - or potential sell on fee

He has been mostly disappointing for us and isn't proving otherwise in the Brazil side so far.

He certainly needs some serious coaching to turn things around and I hope it will happen for him - and for Spurs next season.

Sandro AND Capoue is too defensive. Sandro and Holtby in the middle

It is interesting that Paulinho, Vertonghen, Dembele, Chadli are playing just as badly as they do for us. Badly is the probably the wrong word - dull,
uninspired, flawed are better. And these are our better players!

For all the abuse AVB and Sherwood have taken, they were both let down badly by the players. Badly is the right word here.

Bentaleb has looked OK which at 19 is quite promising.
No love lost between him and Dembele, I noticed.
I hope he keeps his head and does not make any errors in the next games,
to keep his confidence up.

Good point whitesocks - it seems no matter who is coaching or managing them or who their team-mates are they can still turn in uninspiring performances.

Interesting too that Tim's protege is proving to be the best of the bunch so far.

I'm still not sure whether he's able to play that role well yet. I'd rather we played Eriksen, Holtby/Chadli and Lamela behind the striker and we bought an already established deep-lying midfielder.

Did he play that role at Schalke?

I think we have to be cautious in making such assertions considering our level of expectancy for each player is considerably different.

Paulinho is a difficult one. He's had a bad season - like most of the squad - but I really felt he'd be our Lampard in a season or two if he was given the chance. My real worry this WC was that he'd play a blinder and be off.

I'd like to see an average WC and him return to have Pochetino get him playing well for us this coming season.

Yeah, played it for a full season when we finished third, plus with the exception of the WBA game when he was put with Eriksen, he's always played well for Spurs in that position

The man needs a rest, he's jaded.

The first thing I would do if I was Poch is give him 6 weeks off after the world cup.

I would give him all next season off, and the season after that, and the rest of his career too to be honest. I think enough excuses have been made

It was AVB/Sherwoods job to motivate the players and get the best out of them.

So how much of the blame are you going to give the players? Really going for the top four should be all the motivation they need, especially as players whine about not playing in the CL.
