Here's where it all changed for me...as in bringing in quality players/additions/depth....I'll get to my point...

The "Battle of the Bridge."....we brought on Ryan Mason to shore up our win. Now, while Ryan is Spurs through and through, he's no Victor Wanyama. The latter, a welcomed quality addition that summer who remains a stopgap player in our squad when the opposition or fixture schedule requires his presence.

Now add Pulisic to that mix...if we're to find ourselves in another Bridge Battle, or something thereof....I know who I'd want to replace Sonny, Dele or Eriksen.... Pulisic and not Grealish. And I also understand, with that quality addition, there's a price to pay - literally and figuratively detracting from other potential transfer targets.

Long winded take on why I prefer Pulisic - but that substitute changed my opinion on "Quality" squad additions from that day forth.

COYS

When we now already have Moura and Lamela in the squad? The former of which I expect to play a more important roll this season.

If we’re sniffing around Pulisic, I’d hope we have a chat about a potential first option on Sancho. There’s also another young player, I believe to be the best in the world in his position and age group, where the circumstances are similar.

According to ITK, Sancho wanted Spurs last summer but Shitty refused to sell, even as part of the Walker deal.

Now, I think the only way Dortmund would sell is if he kicked up a fuss about being homesick. And, even then, they'd demand a King's Ransom.

Swap deal for Ledley? :)

I remember the itk, and Herc also saying that he would not be staying in Germany this season due to some mysterious factor that wasn’t revealed. I didn’t put much stock in it tbh because it came after absolutely vehement itk that he was ours/would be coming in the winter transfer window I think, which just seemed completely implausible to me. Remember the discussions about how Dortmund had signed him in collusion with us........ ....... .......

In all seriousness, I wonder how much would tempt them. He’s ten times the player Sessegnon is, and ever will be imo. I watched a lot of Ryan, and couldn’t believe we were entertaining 50 mill or whatever for someone with so little technical ability.

Yup. Sancho went to Dortmund and got game time at 17. So this wasn't a Zeki Fryers-type deal to circumvent the intransigence of the selling club.

Whilst Sancho has huge potental, if we are prepared to spend £50m plus on a player, I believe it should be on someone who could challenge for a starting spot now, ie Martial, Zaha or Pulisic.

And if we sign Pulisic, Sancho is likely to get even more game time at Dortmund.

With Sancho breaking through I think Pulisic becomes slightly less necessary to Dortmund. Poch probably preferred Martial so Levy puts in a little effort for him but I think Levy gets Pulisic. As people have said it just makes too much sense for Levy.

I agree with all that except Zaha, who I think is really poor and nowhere near Martial. It makes me wince whenever I see his name and think of the money he’s associated with. Not wanting to start a debate, just differing opinion. I may well be proven to be completely wrong, but he reminds me of Oduwa ability wise.

For me Sancho would be as exciting as Martial, but I recognise that this is personal and Martial would be the more obvious choice.

Edit: just realise derailing thread a bit. I think there’s a lot of upside to Pulisic, in terms of his character (from an outsider’s pov), as well as potential.

Would love to get Pulisic and he would be a better option than either Mora or Lamela IMO because he has a great first touch, a real good football IQ and can play either out wide or through the middle. Unfortunately, just don't think there is a real chance of getting him, at least not this summer.

Why? He’s at a club that is decimated by departures, with several managerial changes over the last few years in a league that his club can never win, and which has little exposure in his home country. He should absolutely be moving to the PL...he didn’t get many more minutes than Sissoko if memory serves.
If I was Pulisic Id stay at Dortmund. He's already a regular at one of the bigger clubs in Europe.

One of those I fear like de ligt where if we don’t go for it this window we’ll have missed any shot we had.

he got 2300 minutes in the Bundesliga, Sissoko got 1300 in the prem.

he's only 19 and honestly he's not that good yet to think he'd walk into the starting 11 of a bigger prem club. he's got tons of potential but would he get more minutes at any of them top 6 EPL clubs?

I mean, Messi and Ronaldo are immensely more popular than Lebron
I think you underestimate the strength of the NBA around the world.

ESPN ranks them based on: 1. Internet Search Score, 2. Endorsements and, 3. Social Media followers

1. Cristiano Ronaldo
2. LeBron James
3. Lionel Messi

So, mock all you want - but when LeBron James is wearing your shirt - its a trend-setter for people not already predisposed to buy it....

Of course, James has a 2% stake in Liverpool, so I think we can see where this is headed...
