Weren't both his goals penalties today? Or a Penalty and Penalty rebound...

I don't know what sort of game he had but fuck me I could play 90 minutes of the same game, running about whilst eating a fucking Big Mac and score 2 penalties too. He may have had a good game anyway, but I just mean it's ludicrous to reopen the debate on whether or not we should have bought him off the back of today.

You forget, some people are easily pleased or never happy.

We buy Soldado so they pine for something inferior, doesn't make any sense to me.

A reason he stayed maybe? In the end this is a good helping hand for us. Now it's time for us to do our job.

Too early to say mate to be honest. How can you say it's Benteke we should have bought when Soldado hasn't even started our season for us?
IMO. Just looking at the overall package, 5 mil cheaper, prem proven, 6 years younger, but that is just my onion

Soldado hasn't even played a game in the premier league yet. Give him a bloody chance! If we had signed Benteke Arsenal would have probably won and we would be 3 points behind them right now!

I'm delighted with Soldado. Outright quality.

However, I thought it at the time and still so, Benteke is top quality as well. He is the full works. I saw him live bully Chelsea everywhere at Villa Park last season before his sending off changed the contest. He'll end up at an 'elite' club without question. I'd be amazed if Mourinho doesn't fancy him.

Watched the game and didn't think he was all that great. Yes, he scored two, but they were both from penalties.

Even Villa fans on Villa Talk were criticizing his performance a bit today.

5million cheaper? Where did you get that from?

Villa wanted £25million for Benteke. Soldado cost us £25.6million for proven goalscorer at the peak of his powers.

I've heard he does and has a poster of him on his bedroom wall with a big love heart on it.

Well happy with Soldado, think Benteke's a quality player as well though. Still think we might need a Benteke type player to give us a more physical presence and a focal point as a different option.

A player like that can unsettle any defence. Doesn't have to be playing particularly well. Agbonlahor's been playing there for years, just never had the space he had today even in the Ashley Young years. I'd say Benteke's special - put the fear of God through that whole Arse backline!
