Villa fans on Villatalk are saying that Benteke shouldn't want to come to us as realistically they will have a better side than us in two years. Can someone please explain the logic of that to me?

:eek::LOL:

LSD in the water supply? That is the only possible explanation for that level of blinkered, rabid optimism.

There was a guy on there yesterday that said none of our players are good enough for them in a trade except from bale. When someone pulled him up saying Sandro, Dembele etc he said no as we wouldnt offer them anyway so when Siggi was mentioned he flat out said if we offered him and he's not good enough for us then he's not good enough for the mighty Villa.

You would think the fact that their squad nearly got them relegated and probably would have if it was for Benteke would be enough to realise their team is pretty shite. Especially seeing ours nearly got Champions League qualification for next season.

I never really bothered much about Villa fans. I just thought they would have the same feelings about us as I do them, which is utter ambivalence. After reading their boards two things become very clear:
1) they hate us for no reason other than clear jealousy
2) someone needs to press charges on their water provider for contaminating it with LSD, as in the last two days I have seen them say that they will be ahead of us in 2 years (it took City longer than that when they were pissing away cash), that they are only a few years behind Dortmund, and like you have said they wouldn't take any of our players other than Bale in a swap.

Even under a really skewed metric surely they much realise Benteke is literally their only play who could make it into our squad?

Can really see this happening and I'd be delighted if it did. I rewatched the Belgium vs Netherlands game in a bid to check his movement and he is consistently involved in the buildup and while his first touch is erratic he is 22 and is leading the line for a top European nation. To score 21 goals in such a tough league at that age is quite something and the risk is probably worth taking.

Im pretty pessimistic about this move. I honestly don't see us breaking our transfer record by 5-8m when a Chelsea or Liverpool will quite easily meet the asking price.
I refuse to get even a little excited after the David Villa blow :(

When they guy was reminded we've finished top 5 the last 2 years and they were down in 15th it still didn't change his perspective. That and the guy on there who is adament it's £35M straight cash and not a penny less made me laugh. I admit i haven't seen much of him but £35m? I was trying to work out why they hate us so much while browsing yesterday, it can only be because they are similiar in size and fan base but jelous it's worked out for us recently.

This century Villa have finished above us six times and we've finished above them eight times so not much difference there although our higher has been higher than theirs and we've topped them for the last four years but ask this question in 2005 and they are way ahead.
They have also have a bigger ground than us and have won the European Cup so I don't think we can laugh too loud, the fact is until the last five or six years they are the kind of team we were competing with.
No doubt they are optimistic about the future team Lambert is building and maybe they believe Bale will leave in the next two years and so I can understand their delusions, lets hope they don't have the last laugh.
I know I'll probably get some dislikes for this post but actually it points out just how much we've improved over the last decade and the ITK we're getting on the players we are trying to get, successful or not, shows we are ambitious for even more.
The future genuinely is White with blue shorts.....

Only 348 pages long! I discovered this thread a few years back when i went on their forum before we played them, and at the time they were pushing for the top 4. I just wanted to get an idea as to what they thought about us especially as we were challenging for the top 4 with them and City at the time. I think this is their second thread on Spurs.

Bentekes agent: "Christian has the same probablity of agreeing to Chelsea as he to the Turkse Rangers (Belgian Amatuer Team) We do not want War but you cannot blame Christian as he wants to play in Europe" latest from Kismet.

I wouldn't call them a top nation yet, but for sure they are one of the most exciting teams out there.

GK : Courtois / Mignolet
D : Kompany / Vertonghen / Vermaelen / Alderwereild
M : Witsel / Fellaini / Hazard / Dembélé / De Bruyne
F : Benteke / Mirallas

(I know that's not 11, I'm just pointing out their best players :cautious:)

And if you look at their current world cup qualifications results, they are first of a group that contains Croatia, Serbia and Gareth Wales, with 6 wins and 1 draw. Benteke is a regular starter in that team, and has scored 6 in 14 for them.

What people care more about is why you think we have signed Lukaku on a pre contact.
Have you been drinking the same water as the Villans?
