Chelsea may be deducted points for blocking Tottenham from signing a Premier League legend

It was reported after the Boehly-Clearlake takeover two years ago that Roman Abramovich’s regime had used parallel contracts to artificially inflate player wages. The club have since admitted evidence of this materialised during the due diligence process.

And, per legal expert and former Man City consultant Stefan Borson, the advantage that gave Chelsea in signing Eden Hazard and Willian ahead of fellow suitors Spurs could theoretically lead to a points deduction.

Yea. And Pritti Patel may call me for a weekend away in her sex dungeon. We can all fantasise but dreams don’t come true.

I think you’re mistaken, although not about Pritti unfortunately.
There is too much noise about the potential penalties and they have admitted the clubs guilt, it is just the penalty to be decided.

Does make you wonder, when all and sundry think that we're mugs when we have missed out on players over the years, about the absolute bullshit that is possible behind the scenes accessible to clubs, players and intermediaries with a flexible sense of fair play to tilt the scales.

We all knew that the Willian situation was shady and made us look like absolute twunts, though wasn't aware there could have been something untoward around Hazard also. What could have been on a level playing field, eh.

I'd love it Kevin Keegan style for that awful club to get points deducted but unfortunately it will never happen.

I don't think they should dock Chelsea points willy nilly I think they should allow Tottenham to decide just the right time to dock them points.

I would agree to that.
And save the rest of the deducted points for later.
And this is how you negotiate efficiently; we have an agreement, good man!

How do we reach a fair and just amount of points to deduct, though?

Could an idea be to deduct one point per goal/assist these players contributed in the PL?
Hazard had a total of 139 g/a.
Willian had a total of 71 g/a (*)
= total of 210 points.

After the 7 points deducted for the 2016/17 season, that leaves 203 more points to deduct. Would that be reasonable to you?

If we then used 38 of those and apply to last season, they would end up with 25 points. Which coincidentally would be one point less than Luton. Most people like Luton, don´t they - charming club.

That would leave 165p to deduct. Big question: would these deduction points only be valid in the Premier League, or could they also be used in Championship, League One, etc?

Or is it better with the slow death approach, and deduct them just enough points to keep them in the bottom half of the PL, but not relegate them?

So many possibilities!

*) For Chelsea. It might be considered a bit harsh to deduct for g/a produced for Fulham and Arsenal?

It totally kills the level playing field.

Willian and Hazard would likely have joined us for football reasons but then their agents get guaranteed a huge slice of money that essentially 'buys' them and they can then cause roadblocks to that transfer or persuade them to go elsewhere.

Whilst we should try to live in a free market in the game, there needs to be limitations on allowing the same clubs to do this and create a total imbalanced playing field.

Chelsea are essentially buying up all the young talent, the best from around the world, this then let's them cherry pick the best ones and discard the others.

Football should be fair, and these players should be spread with each team either regretting or benefitting from the choice they made.

Imagine of the likes of Kendry Paez, Estevao etc hadn't all ended up at Chelsea and instead at numerous clubs.

Better for both other clubs and the players
