Ok I'm just wondering about the implication if the following situation was to occur next season.

A team from the BPL drops into the Europa League and wins the Europa League and has already finished in the top 4 in BPL.

Would 5th in the BPL get CL as a result? Or would it go to the other finalist in the Europa league and again what would happen if they were also already in the CL for the following year?

I can't imagine they'd allow 5 teams from one league to qualify for UCL. I think it'd go to the other finalist. Interesting question though.

No idea, but have a feeling they would not give another place in that case, they would already have the winners in next years comp

To further complicate matters, you could have 2 teams in the Europa final that have already qualified for the CL

So the EL winners get the CL spot of the team in fourth? In that case, I'm sure we'll cruise in to fourth next season, just to see Hull win EL.

The CL spot for winning the EL is not used and doesn't go to the other finalist.

I believe this is the case. The CL place is only awarded to a winner who hasn't qualified for the CL in their domestic league. They take the place of the team who are in the last qualification position. 4th for us, in that case.

Dream scenario: Arsenal or Chelsea finish 4th and we win the EL.
Realistic scenario: We finally finish 4th and Arsenal/Chelsea drop into Europa and win it. :shifty:

What would be interesting is if 2 English clubs both won CL and EL and finished 5th and 6th. I guess 3rd would miss out too.

The Europa League Winners berth in next season;s Champions League would not be used and would be filled by the next countries in the Access List

With the new rules a country could have 5 teams in the Champions League!

If I remember correctly it would be that one of the league CL spots will have to go in a round earlier instead of dropping out

Dream scenario: Spurs beat Real Madrid in the Super Cup and Modric and Bale cry

That's pretty good. I wonder who would miss out in the end. Would probably be one of the smaller nations who have to start very early in the qualification rounds.

Im not sure but I think there may be an expansion of the play offs.

I don't think Uefa will give the runner up a play off spot if the winner is in the CL already

I'd imagine the spot is only awarded to the other finalist and if they happen to have already qualified via league position then it's just ignored. They must have a contingency plan like they now have (as a result of Bayern fucking Munich fucking it up for us) where a CL winner who finished outside qualification league positions and the last qualified team can both compete... But I don't think they'd willingly give this CL spot to non finalists.

Then again it's UEFA and they're money grabbing ****s, bigger teams = more money... All at the expense of the smaller nations of Europe.

Why people are complicating it ? It's about those who missed out on the top 4 and the winner of EL will join the other top 4 clubs in the next season' UCL as well ...

Nope, no one misses out. Uefa changed the rules after we missed out unjustly.

Now 5 teams from the same league can be in the CL. If a team finishes outside the top 4 but wins either the CL or EL, that team competes in the CL the following season but not at the expense of any team that qualified through league positions.
