That's like us saying we'll get to the final doing what we did last season.

Minus the Llorente goal vs. City which wouldn't count now.

We probably could though :D

K.O comps you don't need to be outstanding, just efficient.

I think people forget just how bad Liverpool's recent European away record is. That's 5 defeats in their last 7 away games in the CL (not including the final). Unless they sort that out they won't retain their title.
Yes, but the fact that they have a title to retain will soften that blow. I don’t get this animosity towards other English teams in the CL, at least until we play each other. Let’s hammer the Europeans.

I know what you mean - especially when you think of the goodwill that always comes our way from their fans.

The bitterness is delicious. Sorry regarding the animosity but fuck Liverpool and fuck Chelsea. Anyone that wants them, United, city or the scum to do well in Europe or anywhere for that matter is batshit mental.

Tbh I did not see Liverpool losing tonight. Imo not a penalty for Napoli as imo Callejon dived. Sloopy footwork from van Dijk and a good timed run from our boy Llorente

Dortmund should’ve been awarded a new penalty. Ter Stegen ‘stole’ a couple of feet.

Braut Haaland the real winner tonight. CL and hattrick debutant for the 19 yrs old boy!

Commentators saying he was born in Leeds. Southgate needs to get in his ear!

Fat Frank saying Barkley despite starting as sub was designated taker lol

Therefore Jorginho and Willian were in the wrong yet nothing is said about them

Luckily for Norway, he’s already made his debut

His dad had his career ended by Roy Keane
That's actually not true. Haaland played days after that challenge. It was also his other knee that caused him problems.

Not defending Keane mind, that was assault.

Jorginho accepted Barkley’s decision and gave him support. Willian just hung around and piled the pressure on. Needless to say, Barkley looks a bit of a fool right now

Terrible result for Inter. Chelsea under pressure in their group.
Liverpool are probably fine unless Salzburg are stronger than they initially appear.

"Let's hammer the Europeans"? Think our teams qualify for the tournament by virtue of being European. I get the coefficient argument if that's your point, but it was fun to see both Liverpool and Chelsea come unstuck for a number of reasons.

First, both were unexpected results to varying degrees, and I always root for the underdog when I have no dog in the fight. Second, these results mean both Liverpool and Chelsea have less chance of taking it easy and resting and rotating key players in future CL games, which will take a toll on their PL campaigns. They're our direct rivals in both PL and CL. Their squad wear and tear and any knocks to their team confidence actually helps us.

I'd much prefer facing Napoli or Valencia in the KO rounds than Liv/Chels. Think both domestic clubs will make it out of their groups however, but it's to our advantage that it's a struggle for them.

Lastly, it's Liverpool and Chelsea.

Personally I would take no pleasure in Liverpool and Chelsea being knocked out of European competition I'd be perfectly happy if they survived to play in the Europa League.

I use to think the same way until last season most of the Premier league started to root for us in Champions League
