I'm not convinced that first one should have been a penalty. It hit his arm, but the rules say that it has to be deliberate. There was no movement of the arm towards the ball either. He seemed to be trying to move his arm out of the way if anything.

If they booked players for surrounding the ref, the other game would be abandoned for lack of players :ROFLMAO:
Gonna get in boring Dad mode now, but I’ve said for years that we need a third card, blue possibly, that gets given for this kind of shit. You can get any number during a game, but they add up to suspensions. That’d sort it out.

Will be fabulous to hear Pep moan about this after the game, the hypocrite. City have openly admitted to spending a huge amount of time working out exactly what and won't amount to a booking, and what Fernandinho in particular can get away with. Karma.

Out of the way of what though? It was going in between his arm and body. It's just an excuse to move your hand down to the ball imo

Looked like he was trying to move his arm behind his back, to move it out of the way of the ball.

Oh well, I would rather play Schalke in the next round than City so who cares!

It's why the rules need to be changed. His arm stopped the ball, deliberate or not.

The teams in this season’s QF have not been very impressive. (I’m not watching the AM/Juve match, so not sure how well those two teams are playing though).

IMO, Ajax has impressed me the most but they might have one foot out of the comp already.

Seeing it again, I think he probably was trying to get out of the way, but so many times it could go either way. They need to make a more stricter guideline on handball because you could use that as a perfect way to cheat if you get it right

I would love it if Bentaleb scores again from a penalty after another dodgy VAR decision just to make City fans angry. I have no sympathy for that club

I'm not sure. You'd get a penalty in almost every game if they included unintentional handball.
I'm not saying it necessarily needs to be handball anytime it hits an arm. But the current rules are ambiguous and too open to interpretation.

It used to be if it hits your arm it's handball then they started being considerate so that if you are standing next to the playing kicking the ball and it hits you it's unfair to give handball because you are too close to move out of the way. Ferdinand has just said it wasn't handball because he was to close?? He was yards away, how can that be too close?

If Otamendi is stood on the goal line and the same thing happens, I don’t think anyone would disagree it’s a penalty. Shouldn’t be any different when he’s standing 10 yards out.
