Can we take a moment to laugh heartily at Everton?

Any further clubs breaking rules can expect points deduction , although not part of PL rules the Independent Commission seem to be using EFL rules as some sort of benchmark of where to start i,e 12 points and this was referred to in the original Everton case.
The commission are not bound by this but the original Everton claim that a fine was adequate looks a bit hollow compared to the other leagues, if they do get relegated and breach the rule again, it will be 12 points deducted.

On 17 September 2018 the EFL approved sanctioning guidelines for breaches of its P&S regime. Those guidelines presume that a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction is appropriate in all cases. The starting point is a sanction of 12 points that is reduced (potentially to zero) to reflect the quantum of the P&S breach and other mitigating factors.

This whole situation is really looking dodgy.
Either this season or next they will go into administration if a different buyer can't be found. They're there for someone to get a good deal, the question is why has no other buyer been found?

I’m not surprised no other buyer has been found. You’d have to be a basket case to take them on.

Them building a £500m stadium was completely reckless, and an absolute gamble which didn’t pay off.

In fairness it was a slightly different landscape when they started the stadium. Pre-Covid, and pre Ukraine war, and pre Truss crashing the pound. They’ve all put the costs of the project up significantly.

They also had the backing of a Russian oligarch who’s been sanctioned and can no longer inflate their revenues with dirty money.

You’re right though anyone would be mad to buy them now, when they could be relegated in a few weeks which would likely see the asking price lower considerably.

I remember the optimism when Ancelotti took over and they were signing the likes of James Rodriguez. It must feel like a lifetime ago for their fans.

Can Everton receive a bigger points deduction if their appeal is considered frivolous (which it should be IMO) ?

Some of the posts in here about their ambition and guaranteed top four challenges will be funny to read now.

They were funny at the time too. One of the worst overreactions to a team's spending I've ever seen in 20 years on this site, and that's saying something.

I wish I could bottle up or make a book of the 10 best overreactions on SpursCommunity over the years.
Some of the takes, about other teams or our own players have been hilarious.

Searching for investors to help 777 take them over, and Sky reporting that 777 have just given them more money... this all seems dodgy as anything!
