There's no real downside to this, pacy, good finisher, good positioning, homegrown and seemingly available at a decent price.
Agreed.

I don't think in the circumstances of being a clear understudy to Kane we can get much better in the transfer market than Callum Wilson.

Yep seems like a very sensible option. Straight into the team for the europa games. Hope we can sort this out early.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but why would he be so cheap? Surely a 28 y/o proven PL striker with 3 years left on his contract should be worth far more than 15-20 million?

Some kind of relegation clause?

One of the big problems at Spurs and has been for a while, is this talk of back up this, back up that. We’re absolutely crying out for competition. You want to win things in this sport, you need a good squad. Kane is first name on the team sheet each week absolutely, but we need to have someone in the squad pushing him and knocking on the door each week. Same goes for the rest of the squad, you need players pushing the starting XI every day. You win fuck all nowadays with a good 11. Simple as that. We won’t be actively offering the role to Wilson as back up, it will be to complement and push Harry. More of this please.

Would be a great signing. Hopefully relatively cheap, doesn't have to take time to adapt to the EPL, knows where the back of the net is.... Even just the fact that it gives us another actual striker to play as a striker when Kane is absent and one that can actually move around (sorry Llorente) would feel like a massive breath of fresh air.

To be able to bring him on when we're chasing a game or have him leading the line instead of Son or Lucas if Kane's injured is a massive improvement to our current situation.

Bournemouth have very high ratio of wage/turnover, didnt have relegation clause for their wage and are in high transfer debt

He would really be an excellent signing. Home grown, very capable, can hold the ball up, has pace, and is a good finisher.

Doubt we are selling it him as come be a back up to Kane. He will get plenty of games and due to his pace he also gives an option of dropping Kane back into the 10 role at times

He'll play loads this season, especially since it's realistic for us to be targeting winning everything apart from the league.

Bournemouth wage bills ridiculous. Need to clear it for the championship... and they owe 80 odd million in transfer fee still.

It is supply and demand. If 3 or 4 clubs start a bidding war for him then his price will go up .... unless he is insistent he wants to come to us. Bournemouth cannot afford to keep him on their books so will probably have to sell.

100% spot on.
I think/hope with better players around him Wilson can kick on, he has PL experience, pace, can finish, can play on his own or in a 4-4-2 so much to like. ONLY issue is he wasn't as good this year but then again neither were any of the Bmouth team and also he's a little injury prone but think he's mabye past those injuries now.

Also 28 isn't young but mabye thats a good age for the kind of striker we need as we don't want one who is tto young and inexperienced but we also don't want another Llorente etc who's legs have gone.

Ok i've talked myself into it lol.

Also really like the idea of vedat muriqi at fenerbahce.

This is very true, but at the same time players like Morata have said they would be reluctant to join us because of Harry Kane. This is a player that has played for both Madrid clubs, Juventus and Chelsea and a player that has gone for over £50m. Similar quotes came from Victor Omishen's agent and this is a player that signed for Napoli for a fee believed to be more than Arsenal paid for Pepe. That is how respected Kane is in the game. Not many players outside of Lewandowski would back themselves to be legit competition for him.

That's said I think Wilson (if he settles well) could well fill both the Kane deputy and squad competition roles well so in a way he ticks all the boxes, including affordability.

I understand the sentiment but seriously we are not gonna get a striker who is even close to the level of the Kane who will be happy to be even be in the squad. Numerous strikers we have been linked to, that are at a high level, have seemingly come out and turned us down because there is no way of them starting many games with Kane around. And we're not the kind of club to pay bench player 100k per week.

Wilson is perfect back up imo. An absolute no brainer.

Not a target man, only once got more than 10 goals in a season within the prem and at an age where he's likely to be on a downward slide.

He better be cheap, but I'd be disappointed if an expensive scouting network couldn't turn up something better.

Feel like if it were for a similar fee, Watkins would be the better long term option?

I think so however the rumoured £18m release clause for Watkins has since been denied. He will be more in the region of £25-30m and chased by a lot of PL sides as a main striker.

Wilson is poacher, box in the fox type ... I thought jose wants targetman like structure ...

Wilson is good with his back to goal. He is a proper centre forward, not a poacher.

Aside from the back up option I like this because if we need more up front we can play him at 9 and allow Harry to drop off and find more space.
