From the i newspaper via the BBCs gossip page;

Nottingham Forest will have to sell players before the end of June to avoid breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules and being hit with a potential points deduction next season. (i, external)

June 29th desultory bid being prepared then. 😁
CHO and MGW double signing would be great. Would have a bolstered attacking unit that is already familiar with each other's game and offer flexibility.

I still don't like the idea of buying 'squad players' for the forward roles. I think you need to look at pushing the current crop out with simply better talent as opposed to buying more of that equivalent standard for depth. We currently have Kulusevski, Johnson, Solomon and Son, and only one of them should be a starter for us. Adding Hudson-Odoi would just bloat us with that 'mid-level' talent IMO. We need to start raising the level, and I'll be disappointed if we bring in the likes of Hudson-Odoi and admittedly Werner too.

As well as a more accomplished wide player, I'd be much happier taking a punt on a prospect who we'd believe to have a really high ceiling.

I suppose the two comparisons here are Werner and Solomon.

Neither of those would be considered to be starters week-in-week-out but they are players who play an important role in the squad.

Werner has had his moments but we all know his limitations.

And Solomon just doesn't feel like he'll ever get fully fit.

So in that sense, at the right price, CHO would likely be an upgrade.

I would imagine this is all a factor in this and considering what they paid for him (£3m) and the fact that we know they need to sell in the next month, a good deal could be done here.

I don't believe for one minute that he would be considered as a main signing this summer and rather an HG alternative to Werner. In our team I would expect CHO to do similar, if not better numbers. He's younger than Werner also and I'd argue a more confident finisher, which for all of Werner's good play, that will continue to be a lingering issue with him.

CHO can also play on the right wing and has done a fair bit in his career. To my mind he's a backup/rotation option (instead of Werner, Solomon, Gil) that can start in cup games and in Europe or if we have injuries and gives us solid mins and output. It's a no brainer.

We should prioritise high ceiling 'wonderkids' like Bergvall, Gray, Doue et al and then bona-fide 1st team upgrades like Sesko thus improving the squad depth by relegating the likes of Richarlison, Johnson to squad players.

We don't need the opportunistic signings like Hudson-Odoi clogging up the squad who are neither materially better than what we currently possess and increasingly putting further hurdles in front of our youth prospects.

We shouldn't be buying players because they are a good deal or a good compromise, etc.

If they are profiled as the right fit for the team and its ambitions, then sure, but I can't help but wonder if it is the same old, same old transfer strategy.

I barely saw him play all season so can't comment if he is good enough or not.

But if Mikey Moore is now around the squad I'd question the point of bringing back up in that position unless we're looking to move Solomon on.

I trust Ange to know who is and isn't ready but I'd like to think we want two forwards. One bring a striker and the other being a top class wideman as opposed to a backup.

This interview can apply to any player of interest not just Odoi, transfers are down to Ange and he takes responsibility , 6:10 onwards into interview.

There was enough there to suggest we need to persist with Johnson. Ange said earlier in the season the plan was for him to bed in and didn't expect him to play as much as he did. He seems to lack a little self belief and if he foudn that he could improve further.
Lets not forget, he actually did pretty well and would have had more assists and goals if it wasnt Son playing upfront (Johnson played a lot of balls across the 6 yard box with no one there, and son didnt release the ball many times when Johnson made the run)

I hope we’re not looking for players due to recent form (I’m still bruised from the David Bentley saga). I’m unsure on Hudson-Odoi

Could be wrong but I think people are seriously under estimating CHO.

Maybe it was just a ‘one-season wonder’ purple patch, but every game I watched him play this season he was brilliant.

Personally think he would be a massive upgrade on Werner and Solomon as squad depth.

Think it's the last sentence people don't want him for. That's not to say we don't need better squad depth! But we should be signing players who will improve the first team, if they take the place of the current player then that player is the squad depth! And improves us even more.

I will admit I didn't see anything of CHO this season, so can't say if he has improved or not. But I was hoping for someone with a bit more to them.

He’s got everything but hasn’t really ever delivered anything

Looked decent in the last few games for Forest. Hope he’s not just playing for a new contract!

Sky sports exclusive on Odoi !!!!! , a story published by The Guardian yesterday that Spurs very interested. An old BBC survey on football gossip found that The Guardian was the most reliable of the newspapers on football gossip, perhaps this is serious. If we sign him and he fails , down to Ange not Levy.

I like him. Wouldn't be overly fussed if we didn't go for him. I think he has potential to become a really good consistent player in this league but the one thing that has always worried me about him is he had a bunch of injuries that makes him start/stop. This season he got some good run in the side and managed to stay healthy and look what happened, makes all the difference really. I know a little luck is involved with that
