If we signed him I would guess it would be as a Gil replacement and he has the added bonus of being homegrown. If I was him I’d rather stay at Forest and play then join Spurs to sit on the bench or stands. Especially after that was what he did for most of his time at Chelsea towards the end.

We need to be buying in players who are better than what we already have, not ones who tick HG and squad depth boxes.

Ah, the old, if it's a player you don't want then it's clearly 'Daniel' trying to penny pinch. But if it's a player you do like then it must be a target of Ange/Lange/Fabio etc...
you can not with ha strait face say it is not been like this at Spurs? We have always gone for the second best when the main target is to expensive. I do not say that is always a bad thing. But it is clearly a strategy Spurs have had after Enic took over?

Am i wrong in saying that? So if Eze is 60 and we can get Odoi for 25 i am sure that is a drooling prospect for Spurs. Daniel has always said Spurs can not spend like the biggest clubs. although we spend almost the same amount, but we spread it out on more players instead of doing a Rice purchase. We do the Jhonson purchace.

I wouldn’t be opposed to this signing, as long as a really class and transformative winger like Eze, Olise or Williams is signed. Odoi is clearly better than the likes of Gil and probably wouldn’t cost a lot.
This is it.

You would rather turn to Hudson-Odoi than what we have been used to.

Also, there is room there for a PL ready player to improve.

If that then allows us to go deep for a more elite level attacker, then I think it makes sense.

Deki
Son
Johnson
Hudson-Odoi
New elite attacker/Eze

That would be a brilliant set to choose from.

Indeed. It's a worrying link if true IMO. This is the one area where I think the incoming quality needs to be noticeably better.

No thanks.

Screams of another "squad filler" who we'll struggle to shift later due to wages and how much we bought him for.

If the choice was buying Werner or Hudson-Odoi, then Werner makes more sense but I'm on the fence with him. Should be aiming higher.

Not starting anything, just reflecting on 40 years as a spurs fan. Would love to be proven wrong.

But i stand with that i think O kefe is 100% on the money here, and that we are interested in this deal.
We may be interested but I reckon we'll have a lot of irons in a lot of fires this window, and we'll act depending on what other deals we can do.

But hopefully, Levy isn't involved anymore as it's left to Ange, Lange and Paratici to decide what they want.

I'm just not a fan of the whole thing that as soon as we're loosely linked with a players that isn't up to expectations, it's all down to Levy going for the cheap option.

I'm not really interested in what you believe it's apparently always 'been like'. We have a whole new football and recruitment structure. We have new wealth because of the stadium revenues and our advantage over clubs who are close to the breach with PSR. What we have done before is irrelevant.

We're not at the point of doing a 'Rice purchase' because we have to build a competitive squad first. I mean, Arsenal were only at the point of doing a 'Rice purchase' last summer after 4 years of squad building.

I've changed my mind on Werner tbh. I think we should pass given his age, wage and the fact he's taking up a foreign spot. He's been OK but hasn't quite done enough for me given those issues.

Fucking hell, I sincerely hope Ange is part of the decision making process without the influence of having to pick players from Clubs we can take advatage of in terms of FFP.

Again not all in with backing the manager if thats the case.

I mean we have got to stop manouevering like this in the market and properly back Ange

Skeptical already though with the names floating about.

I agree with your general point, although I’d actually view the last paragraph in the opposite manner. If we’d already counted on spending 20M on Timo’s option and determined we could get CHO for the same price, I’d take CHO.

Now that’s not reality anyway and regardless, I’d rather take the Timo 20 and put into the pot for Eze and Gray than plonk it on CHO, but in a vacuum id rather him than Timo.

Not sure I’d want this guy but I disagree that we don’t need squad players. We need to sign about 10 players this summer who will actually fit the managers style of play. As much as I want marquee signings we need a tonne of squad players that fit.

Not sure we should be signing CHO considering how regularly we break players healthy though.
