Seems a little like a player we target because we think we can get him for a good fee due to PSR rather then one who really adds much to the team. I'm assuming it would be as an alternative to Werner and he'd take the back up role.

What happened to him? I remember Bayern bidding £35m for him when he was 18/19. He seemed to sign a big contract at Chelsea and then never got a consistent run in the team, eventually leading to his Forest move. Did his major injuries take their toll or were there question marks over his professionalism? Just seems quite a stark drop off for a player who had huge potential.
A large part was especially after his first major achilles injury which must be about 5 years ago now, after that Chelsea supporters said he wasn't the same, being maybe 5-10% off what he was is a huge deal. Whether he's a good signing, unless the club are really clearing out those positions and Gil, Solomon and I presume Werner isn't staying and he's second choice behind Son? If I had to hedge my bets I don't think in 4 or 5 years you're thinking about him wanting to be a starter or a successor to Son. That is a slightly unfair high bar I know but he's that talented if inconsistent backup you're fine with having around

I remember watching him through youth levels and he was one of the fastest players I've ever seen, legitimate cheat code speed and since then his burst of pace isn't the same. He's still quick but he's not Bale level like he was where you'd back him against almost anyone in the sport. There was an FA youth cup game, second leg where they won 7-1 I want to say after the 2-1 first leg? CHO was subbed in at half time maybe, he picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and just sprints to the goal and scores like he's not even playing the same game. Then in the U17 world cup final (winning 5-2 after being down 2-0) he was imo the best player on the pitch, he was so good in a team filled with good players. He was relentless and electrifying, he terrorised their RB all game, technically wonderful, skill, vision and passing range, speed, work rate, the lot. In fact looking this up:

I will always maintain that he's one of the best young players I've ever seen, he was different gravy at youth level and it's a shame that he's been cut down at least in part due to injuries

Definitely seems to be finding his feet after all his potential.

If he came with another winger and CF I think this one makes alot of sense.

We have so much to do , need to fund value somewhere

Probably only looking at him because he's homegrown and Forest need to sell. A name on a long list of names, I'd imagine.

Think Forest maybe okay from a finance point of view, I don't know too much about the points reductions, I just know that they are trying to buy my son at the moment!
Yeah but you are talking pennies there in the grand scheme of things. From what I hear they will struggle again to meet PSR regs without selling. That's partly why we were taking a keen look at MGW.

A terrible fit for the way we play.

Cuts inside almost every single time to shoot and that’s his main weapon. That would be ok in a system where he’s an inside forward with an overlapping fullback on the counter but for us it’s an awful fit.

We need a wide player who is truly comfortable going inside or outside their man and who does it regularly. Even if their weaker foot isn’t amazing, it’s the sheer ability to go both ways that will create space for our team.

Personally I would be hoping for us to go for someone with maybe a higher potential ceiling that we think can take over from Son when he leaves. Personally i'm not overly convinced by Son on the wing in this system but I don't think playing him as a CF with any permanence is the way forward so going into next season he probably starts out wide. Ether way I think we need a solid second option there. For me what makes the most sense is to invest in a younger prospect who can adjust to the league and learn from Son in preparation of taking over from him when he moves on or retires.

As it is the WF position in our system takes a lot of heavy lifting and whoever our secondary options are will get a lot of game time next season now that we are in the EL.

I thought Forrest where valuing both him and Murillo between 60-70 mil?

I can actually see this happening. We want players like Eze/olise. But if Daniel smels a deal we end up with the wish version. 100% can see this happening
Are we starting this already?
This is going to be a long window.

As the Werner/Gil 4th choice winger off the bench with something a bit different, then he makes sense. Especially as he's homegrown.

But as others have said, his whole career he has been a cut inside merchant. Even when playing on the right as a right footer, he still drifts inside most of the time. Don't get me wrong, he's clearly effective at it and scores some lovely goals from distance, but as we've seen all year Ange's system is desperate for wingers who can take defenders on both ways and are comfortable playing wide and driving to the byline.

Maybe Ange believes he's young enough to be coached up, but seems like a gamble at £30-40mil when you could get someone who can already do it for that much in Bakayoko or Williams.

Meh.

If we want to be challenging like Ange says then the question we must ask of any potential target is "would he challenge for a place at Man City/Arsenal/Liverpool?"

CHO wouldn't so we move on.

Not starting anything, just reflecting on 40 years as a spurs fan. Would love to be proven wrong.

But i stand with that i think O kefe is 100% on the money here, and that we are interested in this deal.

Doubt it personally.
I met his brother/agent in the gym last summer who told me it looked like he was going to Fulham... He obviously ended up at Forrest, so just goes to show how quickly things change (and I agree, I doubt there's any truth in this, but I may start spending more time at that specific gym!)

We are only after him, if true, because he's at a team who need to make some sales because of FFP. He's not right for us. Typical Spurs signing, trying for a bargain rather than what we need.

I suspect it's more for the fact of his HG status and he has a skillset that will fit our squad.

We know for certain (and Ange has emphasised this multiple times) that no player is signing for us without his blessing. So if CHO does arrive it will be because the manager feels he can make use of him rather than him just being a 'bargain'.

I wouldn’t be opposed to this signing, as long as a really class and transformative winger like Eze, Olise or Williams is signed. Odoi is clearly better than the likes of Gil and probably wouldn’t cost a lot.

Ah, the old, if it's a player you don't want then it's clearly 'Daniel' trying to penny pinch. But if it's a player you do like then it must be a target of Ange/Lange/Fabio etc...
