I'm absolutely baffled by that handball in the build up to the goal. If it's a foul then they should give the free kick unless we get an advantage by play continuing. The balls in the net five seconds after it hit his hand, how is it not part of the build up to the goal?
Asked the same question on Reddit and apparently it's the case that when Dier makes the clearance it technically starts a new phase of play, and that the rule holds that the handball must have occured in the phase leading to the goal in order for the goal to be disallowed. The problem here wasn't VAR, it was John Moss failing to blow for the ball blatantly hitting the arm, which isn't allowable for attackers even if unintentional anymore.

Skipp and Ndombele were hung out dry with those tactics, I hope these changes work.

We’ve been terrible for over a calendar year apart from a miraculous CL campaign last season. Mourinho gave us a small lift when he first turned up, but that new wind has dissipated.

I think the CL final loss was the end of a story for a squad who have been together for many years, and reaching that final was the culmination of all their efforts. I understand that it’s human nature to drop off mentally from such a defeat, and Poch was right when he said that we needed a rebuild.

We missed that window because we had to finance a mega stadium, but now we’re paying for that compromise on the pitch.

This is just so dumb. Do you honestly believe Ledley King, an untested ex player, would get nore out of a team than the worlds most successful manager?

Behave.
Yep, in the same way Frank Lampard has outwitted the worlds most successful manager twice in a season with nothing other than a very average season at Derby. Anyone telling these players just to run around would do better than this current shit.

We must have the dumbest and most ungrateful posters on any football site.

Page upon page with drivel and not an ounce of perspective. We're injury plagued and playing important matches every 3 days. You lot expect the same eleven players to go full speed every match?

Are we perfect? Certainly not. Do we look better and get more results than the old regime despite major injury issues? Yeah we do, yet no manager has ever been given this little time by our "fans".

Have some patience and support the team and let's see where we are in a year.
Yeh that will be down to no investment in the team , 2 transfer windows no signings equals no freshening up squad or strength in depth and please stop the fuck going on about time and patience. He’s had all the time he needs so please stop using as an excuse. Have you seen all the extra announced events happening at our O2 arena it’s not a football club anymore!!!

I understand that point of view, but we aren't good enough to win that either. When we used to be regulars in it we'd fuck up in the knockout rounds and I'm not so sure we'd do any different with the way we are now.
I agree but if we do get it. I think we should focus on that like liverpool with the cl. our state of affairs at the minute, we won't make top 4 for a while

I'm not saying about tactics. I'm saying about his quality as a footballer. Horrible first touch, can't keep the ball, can't pass.

Useless.

We know he has all those qualities though because he has shown it previously. Put players around him and he can create.

Ironic that now is when we need Ndombele, with 4 at the back and more around him.

but if we defend high. You know pin teams in. Then we don’t concede the chances in the first place.
We can’t concede possession like we do and give up the chances we do.
man city and Liverpool concede maybe 2-3 great chances a game through playing so high and occasionally concede.
We concede 20 chances a game so of course teams are going to score against us.
How anyone can still defend Jose is beyond me especially tasking into account what he did at United
What like win the EL, league cup and finish 2nd in the league
Every spurs fan would take that

That right there. Any one of 3 players could've got on the end of that ball in the centre circle and they all left it to each other.

So far, as expected. Panic defending and no discernable plan of how to create anything going forward. With the added bonus of being overrun in midfield.

Once again, we have good players but no team. The whole is considerably less than the sum of the parts.

As for their goal, I don't understand handball. It hit the winger's hand, which was away from his body. VAR didn't review it because - according to the commentary team - it didn't lead to a goal. How the fuck did it not lead to a goal? Anyway, it's the least that Burnley deserve. Now for another 45 minutes of purgatory.

I'm just so gutted that other teams have their purple patch and can look back at it with great memories. I look at our purple patch and just hold such regret at our failure to make it pay in any way.
