Honestly I'm envious of the passion and desire of the Bayern team. They have such an expectation of each other to perform at a certain level. Still think we just need more winners in the side, not that it's easy to accomplish.

I know it's Arsenal, but I respect Henry saying in their best days the level of training was so high, there would be arguments and fights but only because the fire was there. Ashley Cole recently saying after certain players had left prior to moving to Chelsea, the same fight and expectation wasn't there. I personally don't think we can achieve this level of mindset with the current set of players, I don't think the characters are there.

Even Fabregas recently saying Mourinho said that along with him he will be getting Costa and with this team *showing him on paper(or whatever)* they will win the league. Hopefully he will be allowed to build a team that can have him feeling the same here. Despite our massive progress over the last few years, it's the shift in mentality that takes us from talented to elite that we still need to accomplish IMO.

Wow I feel dirty mentioning those 3 massive wankers there. Sorry to sidetrack too.
Kane and Dier have both captained England for a reason but beyond those two, I do agree. But then I've also been proud of the fact that our squad is packed full of thoroughly nice chaps. Maybe you can't have both?

In fairness to Dier and I've said it before, I noticed it when we played away to Villa but he's the only one I see giving anyone else a bollocking on the pitch for something so I respect him for that, just a shame the footballing side is a bit lacking at the moment with him. Kane I think could be in the dressing room and I see him encouraging players on the pitch but not really demanding anything. The way we conducted ourselves in the 'battle of the bridge' is something I'm actually quite proud of. We'd always been known as the team with a soft centre so I loved seeing us have so much fight and dirtiness.

I'm sure we've got strong personalties in the dressing room, but I want to see strong personalties out on the pitch too. Someone like Van Dijk is not only impressive because of how he conducts himself, but also because of what he demands from the players around him too. Would love to see more of that with us.

I've always felt the opposite to that.

That was the season we should have won the title, and rather than keep our composure in that game, we lost our discipline and ultimately the 3 points. Chelsea played us for suckers, having admitted before hand that all they cared about was stopping us winning the league.

Yeah that's a fair view, one that I agree with also and it would have shown more maturity had we kept our cool, but I still can't help to love seeing us fight so much too. At the time I remember fuming though at us not playing a calm game, I definitely didn't feel any bit proud at the time. I think the perfect way would have been for us to have conducted ourselves like how you stated, but on many other occasions we wouldn't have even turned up on the day and we'd have rolled over.

Even if we had won that game, then the next 3 whilst Leicester lost their next 2 their final game was Chelsea. The Chelsea players would have been lynched in the street if they had tried to win that game.

We lost the league when we failed to beat woolwich and west ham.

Well yes, there's a much deeper discussion around that season.

The defeat at home to Leicester in January left us miles behind them too. We were always playing catch up from then on.

I watched the second half of Dortmund - Bayern and the complete lack of atmosphere just left me completely cold. I certainly wasn't able to shake it off and just live with the football being played like it seems most people have been able to.

It's just not as fun.

Isn't there a disconnect between what's happening on the pitch and what the crowd noise is doing? Personally I'd rather just have the natural noise. It's a bit odd at first but it's a lot less cringe than having fake chants playing.
There is a disconnect but I still prefer it to no crowd noise. The audio engineers will get better at anticipating when to add what. This was just the first week. That being said I prefer matches with either fake crowd noise or no crowd noise to no matches at all. I know some don’t agree.

Lack of crowds isn't bothering me at all. I've found that they're less likely to play up to the crowd and rely on home support. As seen in the poor home record in the games so far.

No mention of the pen? What's the point of VAR if you're not using it for this? (see about 3.30 in this vid)

Such a strange situation where neither the ref or the VAR room interacts. Haaland is not engaging the situation either. I thought he would be on top of that right away. Such an important game too where points are needed to lock on to Bayern.

Schalke have been awful.
They're having the worst second half of a season in their history apparently, they've been awful since the winter break ended and clearly haven't turned it around in this extended break.
