What did Sugar do with the club? Oh, yeah, he sold it. Have ENIC sold us? Are they entertaining bids? Have they not just spent over 60 million on a single player? Not to mention a BILLION pounds on a stadium and training ground? Did they not buy one of the greatest CMs in the world for quite a sum in Modric? Did they not invest 10 million (huge at the time) in one of the greatest LWs on earth in Bale? Did they not close to 7 times their money on them both? Did they not put us into the top ten of European clubs without CL which made it possible to sign such players as Barbatov? Did they not just hire the most accomplished manager in Europe?

How is it that when we achieve success it's got nothing to do ENIC, but when we falter it's SOLELY their fault?
I give up...
I’m not sure we would know if ENIC are entertaining bids for the club.

You reference Modric, Bale and Berba - they were all great prospects but not the stars they became which is the way you position them i.e. Bale was not one of the greatest LW on earth when we bought him?

My point was Sugar bought established world class players that summer and spurs don’t. Ndombele is still jusrca highly regarded prospect.

We are now the highest ranked club in london under the Deloitte rankings released - my point again was that we do not behave like that under ENIC in terms of that being invested in the team

You gotta believe with Eriksen looking more and more likely to leave, we will be getting a player of this calibre.

Established stars earn 300k a week. You want to see the Sugar days back? Start getting stars and paying them what they want. You'll get the Sugar days back sharpish!

Someone asked jj on Twitter - “do we have any chance on Bruno”
JJ- yes if we want to

Makes sense since Bruno and Gedson have the same agent.

Edit: Keep seeing it said that it’s Jorge Mendes. It isn’t. It’s a group called Positionnumber.

It's a bit confusing. Transfermarkt has it as Positionnumber but the fresh news articles say that Mendes is his new agent. Some articles even say that Pini Zahavi is his agent.

I think what that tells you is that Mendes is trying to hijack it - he'll certainly be doing some form of representation for Benfica at the very least. As for Zahavi's presence, we all know the reasons why he was involved with the Mourinho to Spurs deal - he'll have got a sweetener to do that deal for Mendes.

It's all a mess with these super agents...

Indeed, in every deal there are three or four or more all lining up for their cut.

It's not just agents, and it happens at every level. I work with someone who used to be a director at a current League Two club and he told me that as far back as 2005 they once had to pay an extra £25k on a £100k transfer because the manager of the selling club was demanding a back hander.

Only way he goes to United is if Woodward absolutely melts and meets the asking price that we won't pay. However if Woodward negotiates a fair fee then I can see us swooping in knowing what the price is.

He folds on every transfer. They’ll pay up.

Llorente returning on a free being talked about in Italy, Gedson costing a peanuts loan fee and Tanganga breaking through. Could we use the savings here to justify spending big on Bruno to replace Eriksen?

Llorente and Bruno or just Piatek (with GLC being the sole Eriksen replacement), I'd be tempted by the former tbh.

If we conserved some funds and could afford to splash a bit of cash, I'd rather we went for a decent DM. Not sure who would be available but Diarawa has been mentioned - no idea if that's viable. Berge also looks interesting. Added to that, I fully expect Man Utd to get bent over on a deal for Fernandes and cough up the asking price by the end of the window.

There is no reason we cant do Piatek and Bruno. We have money. Levy just pretends we don’t.

As much as I like Llorente and wish him well, we needs fresh voices and ideas in the team. We need to freshen up the side with new players. Llorente’s been with us for the last 2-3 years.

Yes, and owners, too. Ones whose best interests should be their clubs but rarely are.
