How the hell do you fit Lo Celso, Ndombele, Alli and BF into a team? I just can't see it...

As much as we're lacking a bit of creativity without Eriksen, Lo Celso has started to have a big impact, and Ndombele will surely improve our attacking/passing game once he's in the side. Talented as BF is, do we really want to spend another 50-60M of our limited budget on an attack-minded midfielder, when we're absolutely crying out for someone to shield the defence, better fullbacks and a backup for Kane.

I think the only way it would work both positionally and financially is if we sold Alli, BF took his place and we lined up something like this next season:

Son Kane BF
Ndombele Lo Celso
New DM
Davies Sanchez Toby New RB
Lloris

There's absolutely no hint of us selling Alli though so frankly I just don't see how we can make it work

Just play Toby and Japhet in defense; they are the only ones doing anything, it seems. New rule that first to 5 goals wins.

In an ideal world, yeah, but we don't have unlimited funds and Alli is a stroppy fucker who won't like being benched. I suppose if we sold Lamela and then rotated Alli with the other AMs it could work quite well, but tbh I'd be absolutely astonished if we actually signed Bruno either now or in the summer. I think this ship sailed long ago.

LOL we’re not gonna buy a 60m player to be squad player. We’re not Man City.

if we pay that it is with a view to being in the first 11.

I know everyone gets a hard-on for BF but if you think logically he isn’t getting into the first 11. Especially as Jose seems to love Alli.

With that attitude, Spurs won’t move forwards

Or maybe Jose is realising Alli is too hit-and-miss and would rather replace him with someone more consistent?

Reckon we'll move for him in the summer as Tottenhamboys alluded to.

Still reckon Herc's comment about 'creative accounting' was about BF, due to the complexity of the deal.

I really havent seen a lot of him but thats an awful lot of money for a position that isnt our most pressing need. Fullbacks, DM, CF and for me WF are priorities. If we can get Ndombele fit we are looking ok for forward thinking central midfielders.

Personally I'd sell Alli lol. This guy's all round game is far better, and he looks like he can control a football properly rather than slowing the game down every other time he gets it.

So...how do you fit them?

We have no idea if Ndombele will be fully fit for 35+ games a season. Hope he is, but...so...for me?

Fernandes NDombele

Dele. Lo Celso Son

Kane

Obviously for some games you'll want Sissoko, Winks and Lamela in the mix, Fernandes too. But the only reason not to consider signing him IMO, is if you're concerned about lack of physicality. It is a bit "Ossie-esque" and "Non-Mou" to play with two deeper midfielders like that, but with the emergence of Tanganga at the back, I feel a lot more confident about the read and coverage behind them. To have such left/right creativity would be tremendous, and would actually signal a bit of an evolution from relying on Eriksen to pull strings.

Anyone speaking of selling Dele should behave IMO.

Davinson Sanchez is a squad player, didn't he cost big bucks?

I'm pretty sure Sanchez wasn't signed for £40m just to become a squad player. He was absolutely earmarked to be the future rock in defence but he hasn't improved to the levels we had hoped.

Players like Piatek will be squad players, he won't be coming in to oust Kane as our number 1 striker face value surely that's the reality of it.

Bruno Fernandes will be a good buy, but will he be a regular starter with the likes of Lo Celso, Dele, Son, Lucas, Bergwijn etc? Not so sure for the money being touted.

Just to put things in context, Davinson Sanchez is 23 years old.

We signed Toby aged 26. We signed Jan aged 25. Liverpool signed Van Dijk aged 27.

Defenders tend to peak later because experience is a key factor in their development. Sanchez clearly has flaws with ball control, distribution and sometimes catching the flight of the ball, but his strengths are likely to improve with time and he may improve on his weaknesses too. I think Spurs are probably quite happy with their purchase of him.
