He is the only home grown player with his skill sets at prem level. I would love to see Levy bid £100m. Unfortunately I do not think that would be enough.
The same Levy that failed to take him for 20m you mean?
Everybody who watches the game knew he had raw talent and with today's prices, he would have gotten at least that 20m back on resale, even if he turned out to be piss poor.
Awful decision, even without hindsight..

If we are getting Eze in the summer does it make sense to get BF in this transfer window. Or are we selling more players in that position for example Lamela.

I would imagine BF is to replace Eriksen and Eze is coming in to be Dele’s understudy.

You’ve not read the ITK on what actually happened with Grealish, then...

Nope..
In truth, I only pop in around the transfer window these days because of a lack of time and basically just have a quick run through possible transfer links.

I just did a quick search and saw two posts basically stating what I did. Guess they missed it as well..
Got a link please?

Grealish was basically all done as Villa needed the money, but then they were taken over by new owners who put a stop to the whole thing.

Last I saw on here was a few posts going mad over Levy being tight and failing to get the deal over the line and as I mentioned earlier, I rarely come in and view many pages, so I just went with the flow of others.

Thanks a lot for the info 🍺

My recollection was that there was a deal to be done at 20m because Villa were in trouble but Levy faffed around. Then takeover talk came about and the price suddenly jumped to 45m or whatever and we walked away.

Yeah I don’t think we can just say there was nothing we could have done differently. Any PL team or big championship club like Villa is almost certainly going to get taken over if they are in trouble.

We obviously saw leverage with their situation and thought we could exploit it and waited too long.

I think if any business was showing interest in purchasing another and going through due diligence it would have been going on behind the scenes for a while. Villas existing owners would have been looking at Grealish as their safety net and having a sale lined up should the takeover fail. Would assume they would have delayed at their end as they had the knowledge the sale was only necessary if the take over fell through.
