It's funny though, just when you think we might actually be turning into a good side we put in a performance like that which unfortunately seems to happen no matter how many new players we have. To lose from 2 nil up is the sign of weak mentality which is something we have no matter the group of players.

If we had have done what many people think we should have done, i.e. sit back a bit, manage the game etc like every other manager would probably do, we might have won. But what Ange is saying, is that when we are consistently pressing with intensity (which is within our control), we'll still stop the oppostition. It's not about sitting back, managing the game etc. We need to keep the intensity and pressure, that second half we lacked energy, that's why Brighton suddenly had space, if we had maintained the energy, they would have been wide open.

Maybe, but there is always fresh legs if not game changers as such. There is also ofcourse tactical tweaks, shape changes, shifts in mentality etc.

Game management isn't only about bringing on super subs that will unlock defences. Brighton were proactive from the touchline, we weren't even reactive today.

Don't get me wrong the players should be taking a long hard look at themselves, all I'm saying is so should Ange.
Players believing their own hype, yea on a good run and just thought all they had to do was jog out for 2nd half and that would be enough. This one hurts and now we have 2 weeks until we play again.

Is anyone saying we should have sat back? We stopped doing everything we did in the first half and then some

Brighton didn’t have to do much in the 2nd half to win that game. Individual mistakes cost us along with a poor mentality. Ange needs to learn that when we are 2 up we need to manage the game better or he’ll be gone before you know it

Players could try it once in a while. Next to no leaders out there.

He’s an experienced manager and if he doesn’t know now he never will.

Is he basically saying 'once I decide it looks like we deserve to lose, I want us to lose and I'm gonna make sure that happens'? Sure sounds ike it.
Tbh I sort of understand what he means, he can't address in the players minds unless it happens.

We have to face facts. This collective shit the bed mentality and frailty in our team where performances like this are dumped in by the team without warning are a perfect recipe for struggling to get top 8 this season. A PL which demands consistency to get anywhere just ain’t us at the moment. That’s why I think we will struggle to get above 8th and we could quite conceivably finish anywhere between 8th and 14th this season.

The best we can hope for this season is if by a stroke of luck we manage to dodge these shit show performances in the cups and throw in good performances there and maybe just maybe we may end up with a trophy this season, it’s a long shot but it’s our only hope with the Russian roulette football we play.

if one of these lands in a knockout round and the shit show turns up in the cups, we don’t get a chance to recover, we’re out.

Still plenty of time and you'd rather your manager put that out there than said I aim to not win this season.

Calm down a bit after our first loss in 6.

I think it's the manner of the loss mate, I think it's perfectly acceptable to be a bit worried he's a one trick pony.
Bed in your style of play by all means but to simply throw points away watching the team collapse, sit on your hands and then shore up the midfield when we're losing is nuts.
This idea that you can't control a game or see it out isn't sustainable, in the same way Conteball wasn't.

Absolutely love the bloke but he's throwing points away to ideology over some sensibility.

Our away form is a genuine worry.

We press well first half and it drops massively second half. I can’t see that changing much, we have too many games so will struggle to keep those energy levels up for the full game against better teams.

I’d have hope we would counter this slightly by being a bit more pragmatic in the second half of key away games, even for say 20 mins, then get a second wind and press to finish the game off.

We have good legs to revitalise the CM especially if we do look tired. Bergval, Sarr, Gray, Biss all there today to shore up that CM and keep energy levels high. Spence also if either full back was flagging. Madness to me Ange waited till we were 3-2 down to do anything.

Fair points mate I hope part of Ange’s ‘growth’ he improves this.

Still 5 wins in 6 is good going.

We aren’t the finished article yet.

Even more annoyingly most of the players fuck off with their national teams for the next week and half.

Totally get that but how many times does he let this happen? It’s costing us points and games that could be crucial at the end of the season
