Eriksen needs to be dropped into the reserves. That free kick he took completely summed up his love for us. Couldn’t give a shit! Hope Poch drops him and Toby and puts Sanchez and Jan in.

What struck me most from the bits I could watch was the almost total lack of movement, or players showing for the ball. It's like none of them wanted it. That is some serious lack of confidence. We could do worse than blood some of the youngsters at the moment who might not go into hiding.

Bullshit, you can day he's been financially restricted and point to net spend all you like, but Levy has provided him an excellent squad on a limited budget, it's still better than 17 other squads un this league regardless of how much was spent on it.

You think the squad isn't good enough to beat Newcastle? Brighton? Fucking Colchester? Just what squad isbhe going to inherit that will allow him to win trophies? What transfer business has he done to make you believe he would spend a blank cheque book wisely?
That's what worries me and as soon as we brought in Ndombele and Lo Celso everything changed as the excuses are effectively over.

Throughout Poch's reign I've been very understanding and sympathetic in that he wasn't operating on a big budget like others. But when you do get that backing you have to show sonething.

I'm also not comfortable with letting 5 or 6 key/core players going.

Another thing, are we gunna get this big rebuild every 5 years? Is every player who teaches 30 going to be sidelined cause they can't operate the press?

Where's our experience going to come from?

That 19 year old made Toby look ordinary today, two games in a row he has looked shit, more worryingly today against sub par opponents.

It's not a choice to rebuild every so often it's what you have to do all teams do it, Ferguson used to do it and when he did it were the years arsenal won the title.
Our problem is that we started the process with players who were not the standard we need now and we still are short on that score so we have to bring in more better quality still.
I'm still hopeful we'll have Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessignon playing in the team together at some stage this season with more reinforcements still to come.
I'm not sure any of that explains this week though.

2 years of jose getting us top 4 & maybe a trophy while we pay off more of the stadium, then once he tires of levy we could look for a longer term coach. Agree our stock must be high around Europe so can't waste the chance to get a big name
He'd be an awful long term fit, everybody knows that. It would all blow up within 2/3 years. But I am coming around to the idea after today. If he came in Monday morning he would immediately get everyone focused on the short term job at hand, cementing a top 4 spot and getting us in the mix for the Fa Cup and potential European trophy.

We know what we'd get, pretty dull and uninspiring stuff, but we won't get performances like we had today and on Tuesday night.

That first 45 minutes from Dier was amongst the worst I've seen in the premier League from any player. And then he gets 90 minutes and Ndombele comes off at half time instead.

Well. Just what can you say about that?

With the possible exception of the first five minutes of the second half, I don't think anybody will disagree with the fact that that was complete and utter shite. It takes a special kind of ineptitude to make Brighton & Hove Albion look like the 1970 Brazil team. It started with yet another absolutely horrendous Lloris fuck up and - although I wouldn't have believed it possible - got progressively worse.

There was nothing there. No pressure on the ball when they had it and no invention, intensity or decisiveness when we had it. Nothing.

This isn't just Colchester, Bayern and Brighton, although god knows it would be bad enough if it was. This isn't just this season and failing to close out matches or losing at home to the team that will be relegated by Christmas. We have been getting progressively worse for a year. We all know it. We fluked our way to a CL final and only the fact that the other contenders were as bad as we were kept us from fucking up CL qualification for this season.

I'll win today's prize for stating the bleeding obvious if I say that something has to change and it has to change in a hurry. If it doesn't, we're done. Our best players will leave and we'll go back to being a top half of the table team trying to make it into the Europa League. Or worse. I thought and believed that we were at the start of something great. Now I'm facing the prospect of looking back at a time when we won fuck all but played in the CL as some kind of golden age.

Who'd be a fucking Spurs fan.

Jenas speaking about reasons why Verts, Toby, Rose, Eriksen, etc. could be demotivated (i.e. contract/loyalty/commitment related issues, the club not showing them love)

Wonder how much he knows from his inside contacts, about what's really happening, and whether he's trying to allude to the core problem... OR if he's simply speculating like all of us

I think Jenas speaks nonsense. He was refreshing when he was 'new', but ever since he's peddled out the same contrived views that you see in the papers. I can't help but think that he's found that the negative Jenas gets more media gigs that the pro-spurs version.

I can't remember if it was in the Bayern Munich game or the Southampton Ings debacle last Saturday but I saw a shot of Hugo and he had the thousand yard stare. Away with the fairies.

I know his Mrs just had a baby, is it a factor in recent form ? Something's up.

Agreed that Dier was dreadful first half. To be fair to him though he did improve second half and has the excuse of not having played many minutes.

Having said that everyone who slagged off the "diamond" got a taste today of why we play it. Wanyama and Dier are not the solid players they were. We don't look any more secure as a 4231 or 3-5-2 or any formation. At least the diamond brings goals. I hate it - hate our narrow we are with it - but you can see why we've changed. Without 2016/17 Wanyama Dier and Dembele its the best of a bad situation.

We really do need that rebuild.

The positives: Moura (he needs a run in the team now), Winks made up for the Bayern debacle and Sissoko can play RB better than any of our RBs. And it can’t get worse than this... surely!!!????? This has to be rock bottom.
Can’t see how you can say that about Sissoko at RB. He was full of endeavor but that doesn’t hide the fact that crosses were continually come in from the right( the first 2 goals were crosses from the right ) . On top of which he gave up a succession of needless free kicks. KWP may not have been brilliant but he’s s been steady if unspectacular. It’s difficult to be consistent when you only get a game here and there and you see non RBs being picked ahead of you

Why didn’t Poch prioritise buying a DM then?

I don’t know. Maybe he thinks Dier can get back to his best? Maybe he thinks he can tweak the formation so that Winks and Ndombele will suffice? Maybe there were other priorities?

He did say we need a rebuild. Looks like he was more right than any of us realise.

Or maybe it’s him that’s the problem.
