No Gomes in the Brazil squad. I find it a little odd that Dunga has only picked 2 keepers but I guess he wants to look at more outfield players.

No Ronaldinho in the squad either but Gilberto is. Looks like he is rediscovering his form since leaving us.

Brazil squad to face Ireland:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Doni (Roma).

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Gilberto (Cruzeiro), Michel Bastos (Lyon), Juan (Roma), Lucio (Inter Milan), Luisao (Benfica), Thiago Silva (AC Milan).

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Josue (Wolfsburg), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Lucas (Liverpool), Kaka (Real Madrid), Ramires (Benfica), Elano (Galatasaray), Julio Baptista (Roma), Kleberson (Flamengo).

Forwards:
Robinho (Santos), Adriano (Flamengo), Nilmar (Villarreal), Luis Fabiano (Seville)

Why couldn't this have been at Croke Park? Would've been a sell-out, definitely. Oh well, we'll have to make do with Argentina in the new Lansdowne Rd in August.

No Diego in the squad either.

Sandro or the guy who was linked with AC Milan in the summer aren't there either. Is Kleberson the same fella that was with United?

Intriguing squad for one of the world's football greats:

No Gomes

No Sandro

But Gilberto of Cruzeiro, who appears to be the same old Gilberto who made a handful of less than distinguished appearances for us, makes it into the squad.

He always seemed a nice fella, so I'm pleased for him. But can he really be one of the two best LBs available to Brazil?

Either's he's found some great form lately or Brazil are lacking midfielders.

Not to defend Kleberson and I haven't watched any Brazilian league football but wasn't he a world cup winner when United signed him?

Yes. They hardly gave him a chance, Same with Veron really. But that was a time in the PL before Makalele ie: before the holding midfielder was lauded.

It's amazing how Julio Baptista keeps getting into the squad, he is woeful for Roma. Gomes is definately a better keeper than Doni so he is a little unlucky not to be in the squad as he has been brilliant for us this season.

Gomes and Sandro don't want to be playing at the Emirates unless they're beating Arsenal :)
