Agreed, we will need to pick up excellent results (not just good or acceptable ones) to win the league. But in all honesty I still don't think we are good enough to win the league. We lack a real star quality outfield player to make that difference. But then, Leicester didn't have one last year so anything is possible if other teams under perform.....

Maybe we are and maybe we aren't. Would still make Citeh favourites, but we'll have to see how they bounce back from their recent disappointments. Liverpool, of course, are good going forward and have no European football - but, for anyone who just read about it on here and didn't actually see it, their defence was exposed again today, by the Baggies, and they were holding on to get the win in the end...at Anfield. So don't think they that much more convincing TBH. Same with the Goons, United and Chelsea. If we can get Kane back and get our fluency back in attack we may just have a chance yet. At least we are unbeaten and not conceding goals - neither of which can be said for any of our opponents.

in any case, Poch said last season we were ahead of schedule. he is building for the future.

Arsenal couldn't beat Boro' at home so that helps with a bit of perspective I hope.

They lost at WBA last season as well, but they still sit in front of us today and pipped us last season to second.

I am desperately trying to figure the point of your post, but cannot see how their dropped points are relevant to another poor performance from us today? Comparing our game to that of a team that has looked down on us for almost two decades is just a lame excuse.

Poch again made some poor decisions, and week in week our appears to want to persist with Lamela/Eriksen/Dele three players lacking any pace. GKN may have been injured something i am not aware of, but to take the only player with pace off, and introduce another player similar to the aforementioned i am trying to figure what Poch had in mind?

I have just watched the Liverpool game, and their pace is bloody frightening, whereas ours pedestrian, without a finish and tiki-taki going nowhere football.

Undefeated we may well be, but that is no indication of merit on the game today or any other this season. We have been lucky (again today) in the extreme not to concede, and with Leics, West Ham, Chavs and Arsenal coming up Poch will have to look for divine intervention rather than Sissoko to rescue anything from some of those games.

Was impressed with Bournemouth. They played well and we couldn't really carve out too much in the final third. They were very quick to swamp us with bodies when we got the ball and probably deserved a point - as frustrating as it was.

I think Poch knows it too. I think the role that we lack in the three behind the striker is someone with more physical presence who can run at players and beat a man. I think that's why Sissoko was purchased. Whether he is good enough or not is another discussion, but that type of player is someone Poch is after.

This is probably true.
Isn't that basically what he said after the Liverpool game at the Lane, when he was talking about Mane?

Still hoping we are going to see something amazing, some beeJaysus transformation in Sissoko so that we will all understand why Poch bought him. Otherwise, everyone makes mistakes, even Poch, and this could be one - the risk with paying so much for him at that age is that he won't fill that gap (ooeeeerrrrr, Missus), and we will want someone who can but having him blocking the place and pulling an Adebayor (or summit). Still...hoping for Poch to lift his mighty hand and a sparkling metamorphosis to be wrought on young Master Sissoko.

I'm all for giving players time - but Poch has shown, most notably with Stambouli and then Fazio, that if he makes a decision quickly that a player just isn't suited to his system, he will follow that decision to its conclusion and get rid of the player.

In Janssen's situation, I think he looks suited to the system, has generally been playing quite well and has been a tad unclucky (in a number of ways), while adjusting. But Poch did say last week, strikers need to score goals. It is why they are on the pitch. So, yeah, ultimately he does need to start producing.

I honestly don't know what, or who, you are talking about here - is it in relation to something I said?
Learn pretty quickly. It is blatantly obvious to me that Eriksen has been well below par for a very long while, and Lamela, aside from effort has not been at the level he was last season. You are guaranteed one if not will play the next game (EPL). Janssen, personally speaking attributes from watching many games, and my connects in Holland were alarmed we were actually going for him. I said this prior signing him. He is here now and have to give him time, but personally do not believe he will cut it. I so much want to wrong and hope I am.

The bench did not get me excited, or cause concern to the opposition with game changers. GKN should of been on the bench, but not privy to why he wasn't. We have Davis and Wimmer on the bench. Wimmer was not needed as Davis could cover CH as well. Winks deserves a start at the very least.

The point of my post is simple, it's not a comparison or even directly relevant, it wasn't a case of oh well they didn't win so I don't feel so bad now!
The point I was making is that we drew with Bournemouth and Arsenal drew with Middlesbrough both results were against the odds and the favourites failed to win in both cases, what do I take from this? That there are no easy games and despite all the wailing and hand wringing and gnashing of teeth on this thread we should use this to get a sense of perspective.

To be fair Ozil and Sanchez in our team today we probably win. These 2 are levels above anybody we have offensively... Sadly

Probably all 3 are regarded by the generic fan as superior to ours also sadly. Those 3 aside and Zxaka we are superior in all other areas. Gladly..

Our offensive midfield options are exactly where we need improvement.

Zxaka? I'll stick with Victor thanks.

Agree completely Shelfboy86 - our defence isn't just the best in the premier league but arguably one of the best in Europe.

Do we need more attackers? Well, a Messi/Ronaldo/Bale/Robben/Payet type player would be nice. But I have a feeling, with the heavy duty attacking players we've already bought, Poch intends to grind this title out, from back to front.

The novelty of the whole 'unbeaten' thing kind of wears off when you draw too many games.

Was it last season or the season before where we went 13ish games unbeaten? Then we lost one and played a hell of a lot better after. Almost like we were protecting the run then the pressure was lifted.

Most of us think we pressed City into defeat, yet fail to see how it's pretty obvious that when we've been pressed like today and by Leverkusen and the Red Scouse that we look pretty beatable?

Back to Lloris after pretty pointless and risky square passing only to see it come straight back again when Son, against towering CBs gets bullied off the high ball.

I don't think we are good enough to win the title, the manager isn't, the am s aren't. We are a solid team with flair players who sometimes produce, who are competing for CL qualification.

We could take the next step but not just with these tactics and so few goal-scorers.

Not moaning, just being realistic. I'm proud of how far we've come, it's great we are competitive again, and we were up against an ever improving outfit today who didn't deserve to be underestimated.

Kids on Tuesday please...

Rather win eight games and lose one so this unbeaten thing is just stupid. 38 points will probably give you a spot in wankership

Some people totally missing the point about going top. Of course it's early in the season to be too concerned with being top(might have only been for a few hours), but we seemingly cannot handle the pressure even at this early stage of the season. Even being in a title race last season we didn't top the table once. We need to get that monkey off our backs. Today's performance was nervy and lacklustre. On a positive note Wanyama was again immense today. COYS...

I don't think today's performance was anything to do with nerves, we just played an incredibly resilient side away from home.

Man city was the pressure game. We came through that with flying colours.

I sat through Trolls today. I managed to avoid hearing the result of our game and have just finished watching it. And I don't know which was fucking worse - Trolls or that pile of shite of a tactical clusterfuck.

It seems like we've had a fairly hard start to the season, the only 2 "easy" games we've had (I know no games are easy..) were Sunderland and Palace at home, the rest have either been away games or home games to a challenger for the title. Saying that we've still got an absolutely horrible run of fixtures up until early December.

I think we're missing Kane more than we thought, Son was never going to keep up the form he had a few weeks ago and for all the good work Janssen's been involved in he's not scoring which is what we desperately need. We've missed Dembele as well, he didn't really seem to really settle today until the 2nd half which is when we started to dominate, he's so important to us and we need to keep him fit.

Hopefully we're coming to the end of our most injury plagued part of the season, once we're through it we can really start to judge how we're doing. I'd like to see how any other team in the Premier League would've coped if their best CB, best CM and best striker had already missed a dozen or more games of the season between them. Lloris has missed 2 games as well thinking about it..

I'd play Lamela middle, Son left and then one from Alli, GKN, Eriksen, Sissoko right...... Lamela keeps the ball and actually improvises in the final third, Eriksen looks timid as fuck and does literally nothing killer in the final thrid these days.

I don't trust Lamela enough with the ball at his feet to have him central.

He's decent at give and go, but rubish at protecting the ball.

Look, TBH, you are creating what is known as a straw man to argue against, because no-one, absolutely zero, person, has actually said they wouldn't have preferred to have won. I would have preferred it that we had smashed the Baggies and Bournemouth 27 - nil each.

The point people are making is that it isn't worthy of such a hyperbolic reaction. We were away. We played in the CL away during the week. Bournemouth are a decent, and, perhaps more importantly, a very hard working team. We have some key members missing. And, at the end of the day, every club, every single club, ends the season with an accumulation of points based on a combination of wins, draws and losses (except the Goons, once...spits). You don't know, yet, where this point today will stand in the grand scheme of things, neither do I and neither does anyone else.

But I do know that Liverpool and United won a string of titles each despite losing a game, sometimes two or three together, that it would have been expected that they would win. And I do know that out rivals this season will drop points - maybe away to Bournemouth (who are, after all, a decent side with a good manager).

At the end of the day, we drew away to a good side who worked hard, after playing away in Europe in mid-week against a hard-working side, while missing some key players. I'm disappointed that we didn't win - I always am when we don't. But that might just turn out to be a point gained at the end of the season, and not two dropped. Maybe you could give Bournemouth some more credit and be a little less dismissive.

I also think you are too quick to dismiss the ArseAnal result. Our rivals drew at home, after playing at home against a poor side in the CL, against against Middlesborough, and haven't suffered the injuries we have. I think it is more like they have dropped two points, whereas we may have gained one, than the other way around.

Just a different perspective.

We would be four points better off, not six...and no-one is saying that wouldn't have been nice.
You should charge for that piece of group therapy. Giving sane, coherent perspectives really isn't the done thing here when you can instead bring on barely disguised, xenophobic clap-trap. Nevertheless, well done. Of course, I could ask whether you had had some form of brain injury, but I'd be afraid that @EllenAlex would take it literally.
