We supporters often appear to have a blind spot when it comes to transfer rumours. (No shit Shirley.)

He was being linked more heavily with both Utd and Liverpool than he was with Spurs in the media all through January.

I feel like when the reporting is the way that Soumare is being reported, they're typically reported as linked to clubs who are in a (supposed) higher tier than they actually join. Like Ndombele was being linked with City and Juve and ended up with us for example.

I'd sell Moura and Sissoko to try and cover as much of that as possible

I'd sell Sissoko, I'd 100% keep Lucas at the club.

In the summer we may be able to get a fair old amount for Walker-Peters, Rose, Wanyama, Sissoko and a few surplus academy players like Carter-Vickers etc. If we can raise £50m in player sales such as them we won't even need to worry about contemplating the loss of players that cause division such as Dier, Lamela etc.

If we can raise £50m in player sales, put that January striker money saved towards the guys from Lille it won't be too big on the net spend and it will ultimately show that we were smart not to spend a massive amount on a Piatek or Willian Jose obligation type of deal.

I bet the two of them would cost 100mil.

Wasn’t the talk Lille accepted £35m for Soumaré from Newcastle this window? Usually more expensive in January too, I’d guess around the £70m mark at highest for the couple actually.

45m actually. We'd spend between 80 and 100m on the pair, but we can afford that. More so if Levy negotiates one of his special staged payment constructions...

Odd, unused sub in all three of Lille’s league games this week.

Ominshen 2 goals in 3, though.

Hasn’t played since the transfer window closed and was totally omitted from the squad over the weekend. Apparently he’s have a row with the Lille board, which is extremely odd as he publicly declined a move in January.

“Speaking to reporters last night following Lille’s 2-1 home defeat to Marseille, LOSC manager Christophe Galtier confirmed that 20-year-old midfielder Boubakary Soumaré did not play owing to an internal conflict that the player is believed to be having with the club’s board.

Soumaré had initially been included in Les Dogues’ squad to face OM on Sunday, but then was not on the team-sheet an hour before kick-off.

Galtier elected to award Jean-Émile Onana a start in Soumaré’s place instead. Speaking on the matter in his post-match presser, Galtier added:

‘There is a situation at the club that I will not be commenting on. In seasons, you can have tension between a player and his club. We will deal with that internally and we will find a solution. In these conditions, I took the decision to work with two other options this week (Onana & Cheikh Niasse). I thought that what Onana could do was very interesting.

Publicly declined a January move yet Lille accepted a bid for him. Are they potentially angry at him for not moving on for a pretty decent fee and sell on % I wonder

We should be going for Denis Zakaria over Soumare imo. He's more of a proper DM (been deployed as such brilliantly by Marco Rose) and he has stronger defensive stats too to back up what I've seen of both players.

League only:

Zakaria
Tackles per game 2.4
Interceptions per game 1.6
Clearances per game 1.1
Blocks per game 0.6
Dribbled past per game 0.8

Soumare
Tackles per game 1
Interceptions per game 0.8
Clearances per game 0.4
Blocks per game 0
Dribbled past per game 0.5

They have almost identical pass accuracy (Zakaria 86.2%, Soumare 86.1%) with Soumare slightly higher with key passes (Soumare 1 key pass per game, Zakaria 0.5 key passes per game). Almost identical in terms of losing the ball too, both pretty good at retaining it.

But as you can see in terms of defensive actions Zakaria is generally much stronger.

Zakaria is also playing in a stronger league.

I agree that Zakaria is the better DM but I'm interested to see how Gedson develops. I think he could be pretty good in the DM position although he isn't in the 'destroyer' catagory that many crave. We have a lot of options even if Dier and Wanyama were to leave including Skipp, and Luke Amos is also doing pretty well at QPR.

I thought Amos was going to stay there permanently in the event of a deal for Eze...
