So this season when all (well most) appear to be succumbing to the very thought of being the opposition of the day to the mighty Spurs, there is just one remaining, outstanding mission in the scheme of things - putting to bed the one remaining bogey team of our time - Manchester United.

Every time just in the last few seasons, that we play them I feel this is the time to end the barren run. Bad luck, dodgy decisions, dodgy keeping, poor match officiating, have all contributed to the one remaing stigma.

This season the one result I am looking for more than any other is a win against United. We will have come of age then.

We will have to wait until next season to beat them at old Trafford, where Gary linaker was the last spurs player to score in a victory for us.

Beating them at home this season would be a good start though.

Yes! We need to beat United.

To add to that, a win @ Chelsea and a win @ Bolton are two other remaining stigmas.

The shite that is being served up by Owen Coyle and his troops this year at the Reebok we must surely end that hoodoo. Didn't we win there in the League Cup one year when Armstrong scored?

Didn't we hammer them 5-1 in the League Cup? Think they may have given us a pasting at one point too, around the same time.

We say it every year, but I'll wheel it out...

Never been a better time to do it

Beating United would be massive, not because they're particularly good this year, but simply because it's been such a long time and it would be a massive boost to the entire club. 3 points are 3 points, but beating United is more than just 3 points, it's a symbolic win of great importance.

6-0 if I remember correctly.

Think Etherington even scored

But we did them 4-3 at the Reebok, where I'm pretty sure Bunje scored. Hero

I don't remember us beating them 5-1 in the League Cup, pretty sure they beat us 6-1 or something like you mentioned.

The memory's a bit fuzzy, I can't quite remember.

But Bunje? God, those were the days hey?!

At our best, we can beat both of the Manchester sides.

That's really not a fantasy any more.

I think Man Utd, home or away, is the last hoodoo. Probably follow that up with Chelsea away, but we have been beating them at home so its not quite the same.

I'm sure we beat Bolton in the League Cup around the same time that the late great Sir Bill passed away, IIRC, it happened on the same day? Not sure if it was at the Reebok though.

Ever since I've been a hardcore Spurs fan (since I was around 13, which was 8 years ago), Utd has been 'that' game which we always seem to lose or draw somehow... Even a few years back, when we were beating them 1-0 until the last minute and that ugly turd Tevez scored in stoppage time at WHL, I would love to beat them finally!

I have felt since the OT game that as soon as we got the Modric business settled and made our major Summer signings which, by then, were looking more like Parker and Adebayor, that we will do them at WHL this season.

I may be proven wrong on that - anything can happen in a football game - but I believe we can do them, and think that we will.

There to be broken.
We did really beat United when we had the ball a yard over their goal line (funny, didn'ty see Red Face getting enraged about that one ).
We should have beat Chelsea at SB last season - unfortunately the ref decided to give them a goal that wasn't over the lone when we were i-nil up, and another that was offside when it was 1-1 (but shouldn't have been).

we should have beaten Chelsea in the FA Cup 5 years ago. 3-1 up at half time and we fucked it up.
